The problem with many knives today is not where they are made, but rather,HOW they are made. There are many Chinese knives made today that are actually of good quality, but they are lost in the shuffle of all these cheap junk knives.
Be aware of what you are looking for,for example,There is more than one type of stainless steel. Stick a magnet to it. if it sticks.pass it by. 440C or better is a good bet. take nothing less.
There is a process now called SINTERING. With this process, powdered steel and a resin are combined then pressure treated. In my opinion.they are JUNK.Most of the stuff stamped PAKISTAN is good to look at, but don`t try to cut anything harder than butter with them.
Carbon steel is always a safe bet.
Don`t get me wrong, there are many good makers of stainless out there, but try to be aware of what you are buying. experience is a good teacher. good luck to all.
