What type scope mount should you buy for your Mosin Nagant Rifle? (1) The ATI scope mount with drill and tap bolt handle is one of the best type scope mounts around, allowing you to use standard rifle scopes while being comfortable to use , this mount will cost you around $35.00 to $50.00 and will require the most gunsmith type work, like drilling and taping when installing this mount to your rifle. These ATI scope mounts work great when installed but are not recommended for the average do it yourself installer, unless you are real handy working with tools . (2) The low profile Mosin Scope Mounts that replace the rear sight, like the short 9 slot Scout mount or Long 16 slotted mounts like the style we sell are usually the most comfortable to use because of the lower profile, these are the best priced mounts at around $10.00 to $15.00, also these scope mounts are the easiest mounts to install on the rifle, taking less than 30 min for the average installer, these mounts having a low profile, while sitting forward of the receiver will be requiring you to use a extended eye relief pistol scope or a red dot style scope. ( 3) The so called "Custom Mosin Nagant Scope Mount" with 2 tier's at the mounting base will also replace the rear sight, but this is a high profile scope mount that will cost you about $50.00, this mount will not let you use a Quick Aim Red Dot scope, because it has the made on scope rings and that design limits the mounts use of scopes and has added the cost of permanently fixed rings in to the overall cost of the mount, making that a very expensive mount, the made on scope rings has limited the options of scopes and other functions like adding on angle rails, lights, lazers etc... these high profile scope mounts will lift your scope up about 1" higher up than the low profile type mounts and that is way to high up for easy aiming when installed on your rifle, making you have to lift your cheek up and rubber neck while talking aim, these scope mounts are not very comfortable to use, they sit up way to high and they will also require you to use extended eye relief scope and a elevated cheek piece. Higher profile mounts are not recommended by most shooters when used on harder recoil rifles with standard wood rifle stocks, or any rifle stock that don't have a elevated cheek piece added to the butt stock. We recommend the easy to install lower profile style scope mounts either short or long with a medium to low profile set of scope rings and a Pistol Scope with Extended eye relief, preferably one with illuminated reticle or the lower profile mount can be used with my favorite, the "Quick Aim Red Dot Scope". Buyers Note: remember scope rings that are made on to any type scope mount rail will limit your options in your choice of scopes, accessories and add on attachments.
