I offer this advice as a long-time E-Bay seller and buyer....and as a Police Officer of 30 years experience. And as a victim.
A buyer on E-Bay recently submitted winning bids to 5 different items and after receiving the invoice (which combined shipping charges to save him around $10.00), refused to pay unless I lowered the total cost. After trying to reason with him, and explaining that his bid "is a contract" according to E-Bay guidelines, I finally gave up and initiated non-payment procedures.
He responded by leaving dishonest Feedback (I don't know how he can comment onthe quality of my merchandise since he never received any). It is clear that this E-Bay member (js2675) has done this in the past and evidently gotten away with it. The action of demanding money or compensation from another by use of a threat constitutes the crime of Larceny by Extortion under New York State law. Other jurisdictions have other statutes covering this type of extortion.
Please....do not fall for this type of criminal and dishonest behavior. People like js2675 must realize that they cannot get away with it. File non-paying buyer complaints against people like this and then BLOCK them. Please fight back.
Thank you.
