after signing a legally binding contract that he provided to me before any work was started (from dougredwood/ Thron Charger Restorations), i put down $39,780.00 and waited for my dream car to be built by him. i waited for 8 months, was never allowed to speak to his mechanic and/or view the car- it always seemed to be just bad timing for him to meet up. I was promised detailed photos at the end of the build showing a time line of all the work that transpired, as he put it to show how much body/ mechainical work was entailed, THAT NEVER HAPPENED. when i picked it up, instead of a rebuilt motor i got a used one- he stated numorous times it was just rebuilt by a professional but there again when i asked for proof- NO RECEIPTS AND\ OR PROOF COULD BE FOUND OF THIS PROFESSIONAL REBUILD, the floor is so rusted through that the transmission cross over has nothing to attach to and is laying on top of the exhaust as its only support- Thron restorations fix for the rust was to lay a piece of everyday sheet metal over the hole and pop rivot it down, i even paid extra ($7000) for more parts and work- example a MSD ignition system, 4 wheel disk brakes, rear air shocks, replaced all steering componets, etc. when i got the car the parts were not there- he stated that theses other parts he put on of course with out my knowledge were OF COURSE better. the only thing better about those parts were the cheaper prices . I FINALLY took MY vehicle to an outside shop for a non objective opinion- what they came up with is that it needs $10,298.00 just to get it road worthy!!!! that doesnt cover the inoperative lights, non working guages, broken heater, etc. its a $40,000 piece of junk and he is not making any attempts to correct the problem. be very afraid if you buy a vehicle from him. good luck, now i have to pay someone else to fix all the problems THRON RESTORATIONS/ dougredwood- created and wont back up on their own contract!!!! I EVEN SENT DOUG PHOTOS OF THE INCORERECT WIRING JOB HIS MECHANIC DID, THE POOR QUALITY BODY WORK, CHESESY RUST REPAIR PATCH JOB, all from steve. Doug even called and talked with the owner of East Bay Muscle cars, Steve, and was sent photos and the same estimate i received, how did the reputable business man, DOUG THRON handle this problem you ask? oh he handled just like i thought he would, he called me and offered me a whole whooping $1000.00 and he wanted me to sign a legal contract stating that i accepted the money($1000) and that i would not say anything to damage his reputation and/or his business- meaning he didnt want me to expose the truth. after laughing i told him he needed to buy back car for the same amount that i paid and/or pay for all repairs that he and his business were responsible for and/or caused. he then became silent and hung up, i havent heard from him since. i certainly hope he reported this transaction as well as the other 7 to 8 Chargers he does a year that he bragged about to the IRS, thats a whole lot of money that would have to be taxed, i pay my share, shouldn't he? that would be just a shame because all this could have been avoided if he just abidded his own contract and bought back the peice of junk he sold to me as a "show quality" 1969 Charger. he spent more time trying t cover up his mistakes rather then doing the vehicle correctly. i am waiting on a few more photos of the so called professional repair work that he claims that i will post here and the estimate to get the charger road worthy again as well as being posted on a few other charger sites. my picture shows the quality workmanship thron restoration provides to people who buy from him- if you cant see it well, its a hole that measured 8 x 10 with a cheesy piece of sheet metal layed over it and pop rivoted down.
