I was confused at all the claims, brands, and hype about argan oil so I did a little research before buying some argan oil. Here's my conclusion: many brands are out there on the internet and in beauty supply stores but I was convinced I wanted the 100% argan oil so I purchased "Josie Maran" 1.7 fl. ounce bottle from Amazon (it had the highest/best ratings). Once I started using the I first rubbed it all over my face and went to bed. Oh My God, the VERY next morning my face was smooth as silk and had a bright glow to it. I applied it to my hair and also started using it on my husband where he has some dry scaling patches of skin on his hands and abdomen. After 3 dermatologist visits they still cannot diagnose or tell us what these scaly patches are. After just one application of Argan oil they began to soften and get smaller. After 3 days of Josie Maran argan oil he said to me, "Order me some of that stuff". Now I tell you ladies (and men) when a man wants something his wife uses it MUST be good. I ordered two more bottles that day. The Josie Maran brand is pure, with NO SMELL to it and goes on very light. It is simply AMAZING in that it softens your hands, cuticles, hair or anywhere else you use it. I put it on previous scars and even they have softened. There are other products out there and one of the most popular is the MorrocanOil line. I didn't get that one because of the silicone, dimethicone ingredients and also argan oil is 3rd on the ingredients list. This is better for hair but I wanted argan oil for other parts of my body and didn't want to put silicone on my face. As for buying argan oil make sure it comes in a dark bottle and buy only small quantities because its said to only be good for 24 months. You only use a little at a time so if you buy huge quantities then chances are it will go rancid before you use it all. There are two types of Argan oil, cosmetic and culinary. Argan oil can be eaten and its available on Amazon or the cosmetic type which is available on eBay, Amazon, and other online retailers. While it is expensive it is worth every penny because its so rich in antioxidants and can be used for so many purposes. Be wary of Off-brand bottles and online dealers who sell so-called argan oil because it may be mixed with other carrier oils like olive or vegetable oils and contain little if any pure argan oil. All argan oil is imported. Bottom line: GREAT GREAT GREAT BUT read the fine print before buying!!
