Aftermarket Parts

I thought I would take the time to write something on Aftermarket Parts and buying on eBay. Like ourselves...a lot of sellers on eBay are selling Aftermarket Verses (OEM) Original Equipment Manufacture. Whats the difference in the two? OEM parts are coming from the actual manufacture like Briggs & Stratton verses aftermarket parts coming from a company that is making basically a copy of the part using the manufacture specs. What I am finding with selling both is that the aftermarket parts are as good if not better than the OEM's depending on the company that is reproducing them.

Another thing I am finding is that the majority of the OEM parts are now produced outside of the US mainly in China in large factories that also sell the same item as an aftermarket part using other outlets other than the OEM company. I am not saying to not buy OEM, what I am saying is that the aftermarkets are usually produced by the same factories and just sold as an aftermarkets verse OEM but at a much reduced cost to you.

Do your homework before buying and don't discount the aftermarket parts line as inferior parts. The majority of the aftermarket parts we now carry are made here in the US and exceed the OEM's Made in China. Lawn Mower Blades seem to be the biggest issue. The ones being imported are not as think and hardened as the ones were getting locally and at half the price. I get a lot of buyers asking is it OEM or that aftermarket crap.....for those of you folks that insist on OEM, remember that the majority of these parts are now being imported by these top OEM companies and they have become the cheap parts. Its time for these OEM companies to bring their production lines back to the states.
