What does Buddha means?
Buddha literally means ''awakened'' or ''that which has become aware' Buddha is the title not a name. Buddha comes from the Sanskrit budh i,e ''to awaken'', ''to know'', or ''to become aware''. This title was given to a man named ''Siddhartha Gautama'' 2500 years ago in Nepal.Lumbini, Nepal
Wo was Buddha?
Siddhartha Gautama was born into a royal family in Lumbini, Southern Nepal, in 563 BC. He was the son of the king Suddhodhana and the Queen Mayadevi. The Queen died seven days afer his birth. Her younger sister Prajapait Gotami, who was also married with the King Suddhodhana raised the prince Gautama.On the fifth day of his birth, during the naming ceremony the child had given the name ''Siddhartha''. It means ''Wish fulfilled''. Siddhartha family name was Gautama. Many Brahmans were invited to the palace for the naming ceremony. The brahmans annouched that this child will become a great King or a great holy man. His father wished that his son become the great king, kept away from the religious teaching and human suffering.
At tha age of 16, he was married with his cousin of same age Princessin Yasodhara. She gave a birth son named ''Rahula''. Rahula means chain.Siddhartha Gautama spends 29 years of his life as prince in palace.
One day Siddhatha Gautama went out of the palace to the pleasure park to see the world outside. He saw four things that had changed his life.

- Dissease Man
- Crippled Man
- Death Man
He explored the different teaching religions and philosphies to find the key to human happiness. After a long years of study and meditations, he finally found the middle path and was enlightened.
After enlightenement, he is known as buddha. He spent the rest of his life teaching the principles of
Buddhism- called the Dharma, or Truth until his death the age of 80.
