Strengths:
--The GLX3055 is cross-cut shredder that offers Level 3 security. It produces paper bits that measure 3/16" x 2-3/8". It's a good machine to use if you need to get rid of bank statements, credit card offers, and documents containing your name, date of birth, Social Security number, and so on. This device is even strong enough to tear up any staples you might leave in your documents, and it can handle credit cards and CD's as well.
--This machine's shredding capacity is terrific. It can shred up to 30 sheets at a time so you'll be able to shred a lot of documents at once. You can also use this device to shred large pieces of paper since its feed opening is 16" wide.
--The GLX3055 has an enormous waste bin. The bin can hold up to 55 gallons of shreds before it needs to be emptied. This makes the shredder perfect for shared work areas.
--You'll that this shredder is really easy to use. The device will turn on as soon as it detects paper (or credit cards) in the feed opening and it will be shredding immediately. If you stop shredding for a couple of minutes, the machine will go into a power-saving mode that helps conserve electricity and reduce wear and tear on the motor.
--One of the great things about this machine is that it's outfitted with JamStopper technology. This feature can detect when a paper jam is going to occur and it alerts you as soon as this happens. You can then remove the excess materials and keep shredding.
--GBC has given this shredder an absolutely excellent warranty. The cutting mechanism is covered for 20 years while parts and labor are covered for 2.
Weaknesses:
--The GLX3055 is incredibly big thanks to the size of the waste bin. This machine's measurements are 38" (height) x 25.25" (width) x 23.25" (depth) so you'll need a fair amount of room for it. There are casters right on the bottom of the unit so it's not to difficult to move around.
--The shreds this machine produces will not be separated which means all the plastic chips and paper bits will be mixed together. This definitely makes recycling a bit of a challenge.
The GBC Shredmaster GLX3055 is a very impressive paper shredder even though it does have a couple of minor weaknesses. If you can look past this machine's large size and that the different types of shreds will be mixed, you'll see a terrific device that can offer you a lot of security, jam-free shredding, and more.
