Shadowless Pokemon Cards. How to tell the Difference!

For many collectors out there,

You have probably came across shadowless Pokemon cards, but never knew the cards were shadowless. Shadowless cards are EXTREMELY rare. They were only created in the Base (Basic) Set, which is the set that has no set symbol. Shadowless cards are an ERROR of the 1st Edition Base Set cards. They are identical to the 1st Edition Base Set cards, but they are missing the "1st Edition Stamp." These cards are a true collectors item and only a limited amount of these cards were printed.

The following points are ways to tell if your Base Set Pokemon cards are Shadowless:

1. Shadowless Pokemon cards are lighter then normal unlimited Base Set cards. The background color of the card is not as dark. The yellow border around the cards is also lighter than a normal unlimited Base Set card.

2. There is no black shadow to the right of the picture. Normal unlimited Base set cards have a black shadow to the right of the picture, while shadowless cards do not.

3. Perhaps the most obvious way to tell is if your card is shadowless is if  the bottom of the card says "1995, 96, 98, 99 Nintendo Creatures...." If the card has the year "99" at the bottom, then it is shadowless. Unlimited Cards say only "1995, 96, 98".
