RAW PROOF COIN GRADING GUIDE

THIS IS FROM MY MANY YEARS OF NUMISMATIC EXPERIENCE AS A COLLECTOR AND DEALER WHICH IS ALSO USED BY MANY OF THE MAJOR GRADING SERVICES, PCGS, NGC, ANACS, AND ICG, AS A GENERAL RAW PROOF COIN GRADING STANDARD.

RAW PROOF COIN GRADING GUIDE:

THE BEST WAY TO EVALUATE A RAW PROOF COIN IS TO HOLD IT UNDER A BRIGHT

LIGHT, PREFERABLY AN INCANDESCENT ONE; AND ROTATE THE COIN OBSERVING

THE OBVERSE AND REVERSE OF THE COIN.  IF YOU NOTICE HAIRLINE SCRATCHES,

THEN THE COIN IS EITHER:  1) A LOW GRADE PROOF COIN  2) WHIZZED OR

CLEANED TO ENHANCE IT'S APPEARANCE  3) DAMAGED.  ALL OF THESE WILL

NEGATIVELY AFFECT THE COLLECTIBILITY AND ULTIMATELY THE VALUE OF THE

COIN ITSELF.
