My Top -10 UFC Fights of 2006 (No Spoilers)

I love MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), and I love the UFC.  With 18 events over a 1-year period I had a lot to choose from, but here’s my official list of must-see fights from the past-year.  This list will be updated on Dec 30th after UFC 66, if applicable.

11.Chuck Liddell vs Randy Couture III – Feb. 4th UFC 57
Another great fight and a fitting end to a great trilogy.  Both fighters looked great and this fight has an amazing finish.

10. Rich Franklin vs David Loiseau – March 4th UFC 58
The USA vs Canada show had some great fights, but this was one of my favorites.  An all out war between two top competitors.

9. Spencer Fisher vs Matt Wiman – May 27th UFC 60
Exciting fight with an unbelievable finish.

8. Kendall Grove vs Ed Herman – June 24th TUF 3 Finale
An unbelievable battle of attrition between the two TUF finalists in the MW division.

7. Anderson Silva vs Chris Leben – June 28th UFN 5
Newcomer Anderson Silva puts on a show against TUF 1 stand-out Chris Leben.  An awesome fight with an shocking finish.

6. Diego Sanchez vs Karo Parisyan – August 17th UFN 6
Two great welterweights fight it out in an absolute war.  Teeth play, heads are slammed, and the fighter keep coming back for more.

5. Matt Hughes vs BJ Penn II – September 23rd UFC 63
This 5-round WW title fight had everything you could ask for.  Stand up, submission attempts, takedowns, and an exciting finish.

4. Jason MacDonald vs Ed Herman
Canadian WW Standout Jason MacDonald battles it out with TUF 3 Runner-Up Ed Herman.  Crazy fight with a shocking finish.

3. Anderson Silva vs Rich Franklin – October 14th UFC 64
Anderson Silva looks to keep his UFC streak alive against MW Champ Rich Franklin.  One of the craziest fights I’ve seen all year.

2. Scott Smith vs Pete Sell – November 11th TUF 4 Finale
An all-out brawl between two friends, with probably the most shocking and exciting finish in the history of MMA.

1. Georges St. Pierre vs Matt Hughes II – November 18th UFC 65
Matt Hughes puts his WW title on the line against Number 1 contender Georges St. Pierre.  This is my all-time favourite fight in the history of MMA.  The action and excitement this fight generated is unbelievable.

If you’ve enjoyed this guide PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE.  And Mark Dec. 30th on your calendar, Liddell vs Ortiz II, and an awesome undercard.
