Stuff is expensive and getting even more so. I wanted to share how I have used eBay to save on things in every day life as well as major purchases and items for major life events.

Furniture and Household Items
Search the furniture in your local area. There is always nearly furniture for sale by the owner. I have purchased and sold many large household items this way. Including selling a bowflex and purchasing a lawn mower that had been used twice! Not to mention the amount saves vs. retail.

You will be pleasantly surprised by the beautiful pieces of furniture you can find from stores like Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Ballard DesignCrate and Barrel, Z Gallerie, and other popular retailers. Even high end brands like Ralph Lauren and Tommy  Bahama. Check for custom pieces too. A lot of these items are nearly new. Why not get an amazing deal. Buying local also saves on shipping costs.

Gift Cards
Did you know you can purchase gift cards and store credits on eBay? If you are making large purchases in a store it is likely you will find a gift card for that store on eBay too ( Pottery Barn!!). You can save anywhere from 5% - 25% on these gift cards. That adds up to pretty big savings when you purchase a few for a large purchase.

You will occasionally come across VISA gift cards but they typically do not offer much of a discount. I have found gift cards for stores, major retailers, restaurants and more. Why not save on date night! I also purchased discount Godiva gift cards to use towards my wedding favors. Godiva rarely has a sale on wedding favors so I created my own.

Coupons
If you are still looking for ways to save did you know you can purchase coupons on eBay. You are actually only buying the time it took to collect and process the coupon but these can save you big bucks. Stores like Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn are not always frequent to send out coupons.

Look for someone selling theirs! I purchased a 15% off coupon for Crate & Barrel and saved over $200 on my dining set. The coupon did cost me about $10 but I knew I was going to use it and already had the dining set picked out. Make sure you check for Home Depot and Lowes coupons too. I saved hundreds of dollars on appliance purchases. It may be worth your time to check.
I hope a few of these tips help you save a little more on your daily spending as well as big purchases. Don't forget to search for coupons and gift cards for things like wedding supplies, big ticket baby items, home improvement supplies and also appliances. Don't forget about grocery stores too. You may even find a few new to you ones as well!! Happy Saving!
