With Thanksgiving right around the corner from Halloween, acquiring a lot of candy corn is pretty easy. This crafty recipe is simple to make, especially for younger aged children.

These turkey cookies are a fun idea for class parties, place holders or Thanksgiving Dinner. Although, they may not last through dinner as your little ones will want to gobble these right up!

Instructions

  1. Take apart Oreos and use each half for the bottom of the Turkey
  2. Take a whole Oreo and slightly pull apart on the top, careful not to break
  3. Dab a bit of icing on the tip of the candy corn and insert into the icing on the top of the Oreo
  4. Dab a bit of icing on the bottom of the Oreo and place the Oreo onto the bottom "stand" towards the back, so you leave room for the chocolate kiss
  5. Dab a bit of icing on the flat side of a kiss and place on the front of the Oreo
  6. Dab a bit of icing on the kiss for the eyes

And there you go… your very own cute little turkey. Place one of these on everyone's plate at Thanksgiving and they surely be impressed!

Optional Ways to Make:

Place a mini peanut butter cup below the kiss to make a body. Just place a bit of icing on the flat side and adhere.

Instead of using an Oreo for the bottom holder, you can break apart mini pretzel sticks and insert into the bottom of the Oreo (opposite side of the candy corn feathers). You will not be able to have them standing.

Have you made a variation of these Turkeys? How did yours differ than the ways suggested above?
