E

What is Elasticity : Ability of a fiber or bedding fabric to return to its original length, shape or size immediately following removal of the stressor. Well-made Luxury Bed Linens comprised of Egyptian Cotton or Pure Cotton fibers, or other natural fibers such as Pure Silk, will retain natural elasticity that allows the Cotton or Silk fibers to essentially "rebound" from the stress with breaking or tearing.

Though flannel in the U.S. is often thought of as a less expensive sheet set, good European or Italian sheets are exquisite in nature with some of the softest surfaces available, particularly when made from fine Egyptian Cotton. Flannel fabric, particularly luxury weights or ultra-luxury weights for bedding such as 5.5oz or 6oz, are rare in the U.S. and extremely hard to find. Flannel has a very soft hand, smooth drape, extremely soft feel and is brushed on both sides in order to lift the fiber ends from the base fabric. Doing so creates an extremely soft, fuzzy surface that offers extremely high heat-retention from the natural Cotton fabric. The heaviest ounce-weights such as 6-oz, are superior, offering the highest level of warmth. Flannel is produced both domestically and abroad, with European flannels, such as those Made in Italy, being amongst the absolute finest flannels in luxury bedding. In luxury bedding, Sheets, Sheet Sets, Pillowcases, Shams, Duvets and Comforter Covers are typical fine linens produced.

It offers fantastic absorption with fast drying capabilities and can be used alone, or combined with other natural fibers such as Egyptian Cotton or Pure Cotton to enhance softness and drape. Linen is particularly common in luxury bedding and fine linens produced in European countries such as Italy and France, due to its coolness and drying capabilities. Some bedding is imported into the U.S. and includes fine linens such as Sheets, Sheet Sets, Pillowcases, Duvets, Duvet Covers, Comforter Covers, Shams, Bedskirts, Drapes, Tablecloths, Bath Towels, Kitchen Towels, Hand Towels and even Furniture Upholstery or home accessories such as Slipcovers for Sofas, Loveseats and Couches.
