Hermes - La Promenade de Longchamps?

EBAY HAS LOST THE PICTURES FOR THIS GUIDE...Transferred to: www .facebook.com/Hermes.Scarf.Guides....... need to take out that space!

La Promenade de Lonchamps is probably the most faked of all Hermes designs.  It was designed by Philippe Ledoux, first produced by Hermes in 1965 and has been popular with the fakers ever since.  The fakes have had long enough on the market to reappear as 'genuine' estate sale items, and they are still being produced in bulk in the Far East.  These new ones are photo-accurate.  Some older fake versions are missing the Ledoux signature and Hermes Paris mark.

Genuine.....................................................................................  FAKE......................................................................................

This one below left is genuine.                             These two below centre and right are fakes....................................

It is quite hard to see in the quality of image that eBay allows us here but a genuine scarf must have the Ledoux signature just above and to the right of the title,

arrowed in the picture below............................................................................................................

and a 'Hermes Paris' below, within the outer circle at the bottom there................................

Unfortunately having these does not prove genuine, but not having them proves it is fake.

There is a rare 30 inch special issue version of this scarf from the opening of a Hermes New York store, where the title is changed to "Hommage a Central Park".  Even this one has been faked.  The fake just has the title change.  The genuine one has wording all around the outer circle in English and French saying " Presented on the Occasion of the Opening of Hermes, East 57th Street New York December 1983."

PLEASE NOTE that there are THREE different versions of the copyright on genuine scarves:

The original issue has a C hidden in the centre of a 'flower' in the bottom left corner golden horsehead supports.  Later vintage issues have the copy right after the Hermes Paris C,  and post 1980's re-issues have the separate Hermes C hidden in the top right golde work.  See this Guide to Vintage Copyrights
