Decorating with vintage finds for the holidays

Holiday decorating with vintage finds can be a fun and personal experience. While many items in today’s stores are mass-produced, on ebay you can find one of a kind items that can not only trigger childhood memories, but add a unique touch to your holiday décor. Many items once shoved in attics and tagged for a quarter at yard sales can now find new life as your own,personalized holiday decor. I love using vintage finds in my holiday decor such as this tree I decorated a few yeas ago with my aunt's Shiny-Brites.

Vintage Christmas ornaments like these pictured can add a unique and bright touch to not only your tree, but can be placed in a bowl or even  a clear glass cookie jar for a pretty display. Searching under "vintage ornaments" or "vintage Shiny-Brites" can make your search even more targeted .Vintage glass ornaments can be found in all shapes and sizes.

Vintage putz houses, made of cardboard, and embellished with little trees, and glitter can be displayed on their own, added to Christmas tree limbs, or even placed on a wreath.They can be found in many shapes and colors,and can create a festive town display when clustered together. New versions can also be found with just as much character, as well as kits to make your own.

For a warm and welcoming holiday table, vintage dishes and serving platters can brighten any dining area. Search under platters and dishes to start to curate a collection.If finding enough dishes to make a matching set seems to be a challenge, have fun with your table setting and mix and match your plates and bowls for an eclectic holiday table.

Vintage tablecloths,sometimes rarely used, can add a pop of graphic color and texture to your family gathering.Even though some may have a few stains or are well-loved, this does not diminish from their holiday allure. Because of their material, they generally wash very well and will last for many Christmas celebrations to come. Vintage tablecloths that seem too stained to used  as one big tablecloth can be re-purposed into napkins, tree skirts or even sewn into stockings.

Under the section of vintage tree skirts, new vintage-inspired and genuinely vintage skirts can be found. Many of the skirts are handmade and have extra touches and details that wouldn't be found in newer items.

Adding vintage decor to your modern Christmas can be as easy as searching under the terms "vintage"and "Christmas" and then adding your item tag. Adding a few vintage items here and there can brighten any holiday  decor!
