Antique Sword Canes
I have been involved with antique buy/sell/trade for many years. There are a few reproductions that have fooled me and many other dealers. One of them is the "victorian-era sword cane." In the 1960s-70s there were many of these produced in India. They operate like the old sword-canes of the late 1800s. A twist of a brass knob releases the sword from the device that appears to be a regular walking cane. Some of the blades have the "Made in India" stamp in the metal, some do not. Most (almost all of them have a bird head motif on the handle. They are made of a cheap wood that looks like rosewood but it is not real Rosewood.
