5 reasons to shop PRE-OWNED when buying a handbag

1. Save money without sacrificing quality.

Make your money go further by accepting a scuff mark or some gentle wear on a high-end designer bag or a quality used leather bag. Leather bags - especially vintage leather bags -  are durable and the use or wear of a bag can even add a beautiful patina to the leather. TIP: when shopping online, be sure to read the seller or store’s entire description and view all photos before you buy so that you understand the condition, etc.

2. Stock up your necessary handbag styles for an affordable price.

A bag for every occasion…. because the leather tote bag you use for school or work just doesn’t quite match the little black dress. Buying bags second hand saves you money…. and you can get more for your dollar! Establish your handbag collection shopping second hand to make sure you have the right bag for every outfit and outing.

3. Be a trendsetter: own a handbag style that is unique and not available to mass markets any longer.

Not going to lie, I hate showing up to the party in the same dress as another girl. Or in this case, handbag. My handbag is how I know that I am always unique in my style. Shopping second-hand offers an enormous variety of eras, styles, designs, colors, fabrics and more! that are not available in retail stores today. TIP: this was my ‘way around’ the dress code during the time I worked in a corporate setting. I had to wear professional business clothes, but got to show off my fashionista self and style through a handbag.

4. Carry high-end brand name handbags that you could not afford to have otherwise at the retail price.

Often times you can find a pre-owned or used  designer bag that is in fabulous condition for half price or less! TIP: Spend time researching the authentication guidelines for what makes the brand of handbag you are after authentic. You don’t want to pay for the real deal and get some measly fake.

5. Add vintage flair - and not to mention quality- to your daily wardrobe.
Find vintage style handbags that are relevant for today’s current trend. Look at handbag shapes, styles and colors from the runway, street or magazine that you like, and you can almost always find something similar in a vintage bag! Your handbag can be vintage, yet current with fashion trends and entirely unique.  The old supple leathers, sturdy yet dainty clasps and thoughtful designs of a vintage handbag are among some of the finer things in life.
