1967 $20 gold coin

In 1966 the R.C.Mint made announcement of a new gold {$20 peice} coinage for 1967. This was great news to the collector
and dealers at that time, for the R.C.M. had not struck a gold coinage for a while.

[ alittle information on the coin ] The coin is one 9 [.900] gold, 27.02mm, 2.30mm and weight 18.27grams, the only coin
struck with the single date 1967 for that year, instead of 1867-1967.

1967 the Mint issued the $20 gold coin as a Speciman and in the 1867-1967 Silver speciman set and issued a fix price of $40.each.

Double the price of the face value of the $20.00 gold coin in 1967 and too add more bad news it could only sold to canadians.
Bad news if you were a dealers and too some collectors - a small market for the 1967 commemorative, twenty dollar gold coin
and/1867-1967 set.

Today gold is alot hire in price the commemorative, twenty dollar gold coin is selling for $800.00 canadian and if you
want it with the speciman silver set just add $40.00 canadian.

*** New note on the commemorative 1867-1967 Set; if you own one, check it, you could have some of the coins (rev. side) off-set.
These Sets are know to exsist and are worth alot more.***!!! ( new up date).

Hear something you don't know because there is no R.C.Mint records of what I am going to tell you ever happening.

In 1967 Toronto world fair was opening, the head people in the R.C.Mint had issue a new 1967 commemorative speciman coin set to be
struck and to be given out to polticians & diplomats from other world country ( note: only if attended) to promote the World Fair
in Toronto.

***** Caught your interest yet? **** Remember this a short version of the story.

***** Canadian Coin News is writing an article about it in their July or August issue***** that is what I was told.

What I can tell you about one of these "Sets" is that it was in a plain brown cardbourd box; the set was similar to the one
sold to canadian puplic which contained a $20 gold coin and one of each of the 1c to $1, all of speciman finish; but!, the 5c in
this set was struck "U.S. die axis system" that means  the coin was struck upset axis.

So if you collect " R.C.Mint Sets " you might want to keep your eye open for this 1967 Set.

This story is far from been over... there more to come.
