Brand New 40 Seeds of Dancing Plant Flower Telegraph Semaophore Dance Grass

Codariocalyx Motorius Desmodium Gyrans

One of the MOST AMAZING Plants of Nature

MODEL #: SEEDDANCE40

DID YOU KNOW?

desmodium gyrans: the Dancing plant, telegraph or semaphore plant

This plant is famous for its movement of small lateral leaflets at speeds rapid enough to be perceivable with the naked eye. This is a strategy to maximise sunlight by tracking the sun. Each leaf is equipped with a hinge that permits it to be moved in order to receive more sunlight, but the weight of these leaves means the plant must expend a lot of energy in moving it. To optimise movement of large leaves, each large leaf has two small leaflets at its base. These move constantly along an elliptical path, sampling the intensity of sunlight, and directing the large leaf to the area of most intensity.

Surprisingly, it is also a tea! Boil it in hot water and drink it. Some people drink it every day!" It is an excellent tea for antioxidants.

Darwin called the plant Hedysarum; modern botanists call it either Desmodium gyrans or, more correctly these days, Codariocalyx motorius; its common name is Dancing Grass or Telegraph plant or Semaphore plant -- after the leaf movements, which resemble semaphore signals.

It can be found in Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Laos, Malaysia, Martinique, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. It can even be found on the Society Islands, a chain of islands dotted remotely in the South Pacific. In Mauritius, in the 19th century, it was cultivated intentionally. But Codariocalyx motorius or Desmodium roylei or Meibomia gyrans, or whatever you choose to call it, actually dances. Very early in the morning, as the sun rises, the leaves of the dancing plant respond by rythmically moving. But more amazing, it dances to music, responding to the sound waves. This is very strange.

For all of its uses this plant is easy to grow, dancing happily on a sunny windowsill and watered when dry. Some say it dances best to the "Grateful Dead!"

Characteristics :
Dancing Grass belongs to perennial shrub type, which can grow up to 60 to 150 cm in height. The leave shape will be changed according to its rate of growth. The real leaves at initial stage will grow at the opposite. Subsequently, they will change to be single leaves growing at each other. The leaves will grow to be oval or lanceolate, with a length of about 5 to 10 cm. Butterfly shape flowers, in purplish red, will bloom in around August to October. The pod of little lip-like purplish-red flowers will mature in around October to November.

Dancing Grass is a grass sensitive to the sound waves. There are many tiny linear leaves on both sides of its frontage. When the temperature is higher than 22℃, particularly under direct sunshine, being stimulated by sound waves, the grass would swing up and down; just like butterflies flying in the air, or girls dancing on the stage. The swinging scope of leaves can reach 180 degrees or above. Afterwards, they will be back to their origin and then repeat the swinging.

Usage :

1.    Amusement: Dancing Grass can be planted in the yard for the purpose of amusement.

2.    Medical Use: The whole plant of Dancing Grass can be of some medical uses. It has the effects of relaxing the muscles and stimulating the blood circulation. It can help to treat illnesses such as influenza, snake bite and ulcer etc.  Soaking its stem with wine, and taking one cup of the wine every morning and night, can help to treat the sciatica and rheumatism. It also helps to strengthen our muscles.

3.    Skin Care: Soaking the fresh leaves of the Dancing Grass in water and using the water to wash the face, can help polishing the skin to be white and delicate.

The bible tells us that "The trees will clap their hands". This is only the preview.  Please watch the picture below.
