Sand filters are one of the most popular ways to filter water. They are simple, effective, and require very little attention. Pool water is routed through a sand-filled pressure vessel. The sand traps particles as small as 20 microns in size (particles smaller than 40 microns cannot even be seen by the naked eye). Over time, dirt accumulates in the spaces between the sand particles causing the pressure in the vessel to rise as water finds it harder to pass through. This signals you to "backwash" the filter. Simply reverse the water flow and "knock out" the dirt. It's that simple.

The Clearwater Sand Filter is the latest in pool filter technology. Its spherical tank design evenly distributes the pressure resulting in greater strength and longer life. Rugged, corrosion proof, high filtration area, and one piece body. The Clearwater sand filter features a seven function top mount valve for maximum control over the filter system, and easy-to-install snap-in & twist laterals with large surface area for maximum flow. These systems are recommended for above ground pools only that have a box style wall skimmer and 1½" plumbing lines. The return opening (jet) must be 1¼" or larger in diameter to allow less back pressure on the equipment and more water flow to the pool.
