Seagate FreeAgent 750 GB,External,7200 RPM (ST307504FDA1E1-RK) Hard Drive

Bought this item b'cause I needed an external hard drive compatible with my new (USB 2.0) computer and also my older (USB 1.1) computer, the one that, instead of USB as power source, used AC wall outlet for power supply. Computer techs said to me that USB powered hard drives put stress on computer and drain on computer battery.

I'm to use it around-the-house and can afford to sacrifice compactness and true portability.

I researched user reviews & found mostly +ve reviews for this model series.

This was auction of a new, unopened, plastic-sealed/boxed item, being sold for an asking price, with "make-an-offer or best offer" option. From Ebay pricing experience, I found it priced low to start with, made an offer that seller accepted. That was the end my lengthy and patient search.

Communication experience with seller has been excellent. He emailed his date-of-purchase that I can use for my warranty registeration.

I have not opened the box and have not started using the hard drive yet. I hope it works for me just as well as other users. So, I cannot speak to what I've not liked about this hard drive.

I wanted a backup to protect all my important files I love this seagate baqckup,all my important files are now safe.
That is the reason I bid on this item. i now have all my hard drive safe.

bought it for college looking forward to using it large 750 gig storage should be plenty for my use...

UPDATE!! I LIKE THE HARD DRIVE. THE INSTRUCTIONS COULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE CLEARER. BUT WE GOT IT UP AND IT SEEMS TO HAVE LOADED EVERYTHING OK. I STILL HAVE TO CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE TO MAKE SURE IT LOADED EVERYTHING I NEVER USED ONE BEFORE SO I AM STILL UNSURE OF MYSELF AND WANT TO MAKE SURE IT HAS LOADED EVERYTHING I NEED IN CASE MY MAIN HARD DRIVE CRASHES. SO FAR I WOULD BUY IT AGAIN. THAT WAS WRITTEN RIGHT AFTER I GOT THE UNIT. NOW TWO YEARS LATER I AM NOT AS HAPPY WITH IT AS I THOUGHT I WOULD BE. NOW I WOULDN'T BUY IT AGAIN OR RECOMMEND IT. IT IS A HASSLE TO USE AND I JUST REMOVED IT AND WENT TO CARBONITE. FOR $55.00 A YEAR I'M SURE EVERYTHING IS BACKED UP AND EASY TO RECOVER. NOW I HAVE TO DRILL HOLES IN THE PLATTER OF THIS DRIVE SO THE INFORMATION CAN NOT BE RECOVERED BY ANYONE ONCE I GET RID OF IT.
