Rainbow Technologies E-2 Canister Cleaner

Had an old 80s Rainbow that was a factory rebuild and it finally gave up the ghost. Better/newer motor, better/newer power head...I don't know, but it works better than the old. Improvements over my older model: Power switch in better position, connection of hoses to canister are much improved, the whole tank to canister to wheel base is better, an actual system to store the power cord, a better attachment storage rack. Overall a much improved model over older ones. I know everyone is going for the brand spankin' new 2-speed model and its new power head but this model works great for me and there are great deals to be had out there as many dump these and upgrade. My house is combination of carpet and hardwood floors and the vacuum works great on both. The water filter catches everything and you can see what you are picking up. As I have multiple cats there is always something to pick up. So far I have found nothing that I dislike about this model. Once you own a Rainbow, you will not ever want anything else.

I love Rainbow vacuum cleaners and I have had an older model for over 12 years and I wanted the E Series because it has a stronger motor and picks up more dirt. However, this machine needs to be refurbished. The hepa filter unit had holes in it and the incorrect filter was inside the unit. The Rainbow machine needs cleaning and should be inspected and cleaned by a vacuum repair person. The water pan and all tools were dirty. The metal wands that hook to the hoses are all rusted inside and should be replaced. The roller brush on the power nozzle was in bad condition, needs replaced. The small brush/wrench that cleans the air-water separator under machine was missing. Also the brush that slides on and off of the Upholstery tool is missing. I returned it because this machine needs alot of work and needs several replacement parts.

Like the smell of the air after a rain, clean and fresh. That's what you get from a rainbow vacuum cleaner. It takes the dusty air in and washes it, removing and trapping dirt and dust, then sends out clean and crisp air. You can add adrop of several different odors and the bathed water will permeate the place with that smell.

Oh, by the way, this vacuun has great cleaning power as well. Probably what most people look for in a vacuum. There are tolls to clean all kinds of serfaces and tools to get into crevices and under refrigerators to eliminate dust and dirt for good. If we could seal the house after a cleaning we wouldn't need to clean anymore after a thorough Rainbow cleaning.

It is the BEST vacuum in the world and can serve you for a lifetime if you maintain it. Mkae sure to never leave it full of water and always store it dry. Clean the separator, the piece that separates air from the water as it draws air through the motor, hoses and water pan and this machine will perform at it's peak. Filters may need to be replaced to maintain the fresh smell but not very often.

Buying this machine on eBay saved me loads of money had I bought it from the dealer. Buying from a representative is good if you have never had a Rainbow because they teach you how to use and care for it and warranty it. If you never used one and can be disciplined enough to read the user's maual you should be ok.

Wet dirt and dust can't fly and that is why this machine cleans the best. Hope you enjoy yours.

This vacuum improves considerably on earlier rainbow models, while still leaving a room not only looking but smelling clean and fresh. We own a few other major brands as well, but the Rainbow is what we use for our primary living space carpets. It is gentler on carpet fibers while cleaning at least as well. It's not the cheapest, lightest, or most mobile of units, but with wet/dry, shampooer, and many other available options, it is in a slightly different league from standard vacuum cleaners. It's worth the investment if you can manage it. They hold up well over time, and perform consistently.

I'm a super clean freak. My grandma had one of these in the 80s and I've always wanted one so I just called the dist and bought one. Even still, she wanted to give a demo but I said no since I know all about it already.

They are great & will last a LONG time if they are used and taken care of. I think the suction is not quite as great as it is on other canister, but the airflow is better which is what really cleans. Once you get into the groove of using them, it's not that big of a pain. There is a learning curve. Don't let the water get too dirty, clean the separator (doesn't take long) & don't store water basin on the unit. The major PROOF to me this this filters extremely well is the hepa filter. My machine is 5.5 years old (gold 2 speed) and when I take the hepa OUT and look at it on both sides, it's still snow white & smells good. It's a great machine but it needs to be taken care off.

One thing that I'm NOT crazy about on the E series Gold-Blue is the power nozzle. It looks nice and has a great brush roll - but I think there are better nozzles out there. Even still, it still does a decent job thanks to the airflow of the Rainbow. I love the fact that it's made in the USA through & through : D
