Album Notes
The Pretty Things includes: Phil May.Additional personnel includes: David Gilmour, Ronnie Spector, The Bach Chorale.Personnel: Frank Holland (vocals, guitar, acoustic guitar); Wally Allen Waller (vocals, acoustic guitar); Phil May (vocals, harp); John Povey (vocals, keyboards); Dick Taylor (guitar, acoustic guitar); Skip Alan (snare drum, percussion).Recording information: 145 Wardour Street, Soho London. The key to the success of the Pretty Things first studio recording in 19 years is that most of it sounds as if it were made during their mid-'60s heyday rather than at the time of their early '80s demise. It's downfall is overwrought, out-of-style songs like "Love Keeps Hanging On," which sounds like something the fictional band, Strange Fruit, would've come up with. Cover songs like "Eve of Destruction" and "Play with Fire" are completely redundant, yet the openers, the jangly guitar workout, "Passion of Love," and the Bo Diddley-beat tribute to an old bandmate, "Vivian Prince," make the disc worthwhile. ~ Denise Sullivan

...garage punk R&B par excllence that would stand out as a classic even in the middle of a NUGGETS compilation.... delivered with this much passion, intelligence, integrity and musical intensity...

Rage...Before Beauty by Pretty Things

Excellent example of Real Rock N Roll.
If you like the begining of Rock N Roll say 60's this is one of the best, reminiscent of the old Stones, Hard, brash and at the Time the best.
Once again this is one of the best "Try it, even Mikey likes it".
Have fun, Rock On.

Rage Before Beauty - Pretty Things

I was dissapointed with this album. It just didn't have the edge I have loved about this band in the past. My exspectations may have been too high. I was hoping for some hard core rock & roll.
