Nikon D3s 12.1 MP Digital SLR Camera - Black (Body Only)

In one word " a fantastic " camera.
I bought the D3s for its ability to take pictures un low and difficult light and the D3s is unsurpassed in this area.
This camera surpasses the my D700 by a wide margin on virtually all fronts.
Yes The D3s is heavy, but handles very well and is superb in balance and can tolerate the
stresses of long and heavy lenses.
I also love how smooth the shutter action is, it makes for great hand held pictures at slow shutter speeds.
The area where I see improvement is in the interface and menu layout, they are extensive but not very intuitive.
I love this camera.

I personally owned all the right lens (14-24, 24-70, 70-200 vrii,24 and 85 f1.4) as well as dx lens. I started with the D90 and the associated lens (18-200 dx, 17-55 dx, 60 macro and 105 micro). The D90 cannot hold a candle to the d3s. I have read numerous reviews. They all indicate the d3s has amaszing high iso, which is true. However, the daylight picture quality is amazing. In other words, what the reviews are not saying, is the D3s has amazing picture quality. The colors, resolution, depth of field, etc, are all better. More to the point, a highly compressed JPG taken on D3s is better than most RAW taken on other cameras. The D3s produces amazing photos that are untouchable.

The D3s is everything we had hoped for - this is the most amazing camera I've ever owned: previous models are D60, D80, D300, D700. The D3s is not just an improvement, it blows them all away for capturing movement in low light (Dance - in case you were making up something else in your minds).
Nikon hit a home run with this one!
I purchased it because although my D300 was a fabulous "outdoors" camera, it just wasn't cutting it for low light conditions. After I bought this and we started comparing, my wife had to get one also, it was that much better than her D700, which is really saying something!
It helps to be using genuine Nikkor glass, of course, but comparing the same lenses (50mm f1.4, 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8) on the 3 different models the D3s won hands down.
If you can find one and need to shoot indoors or outdoors in low light, (does everything else as well), this is the camera for you.

I have upgraded from my D3 to this D3s for serveral reasons. Self cleaning sensor, improved low light/ low noise sensor over the D3. ( supposedly by at least 2 stops better low light performance. Outstanding quality as only Nikon provides on these pro bodies.
A true pro camera with all the features that you would ever want.
Another upgrade from the D3 is the added HD video feature. This is one of the last ones to be built prior to Japan's disaster. Which now, i believe will be manufactured in Malaysia.
These are hard to find at this time, because of this fact.

There are many bells and whistles on this camera. I am amazed on how easy it is to use and moving around in the menu. The placement of controls are user frendly and in the right location for me, I have large hands. Nikon set this camera up perfectly for my use. I upgraded from the D300 and I just love the FX feature. Yes the camera is a little on the heavy side but it seems to be comfortable to use with a 70-200Vr II lense. Great quality for the price. The ISO is amazing, little or no noise when set to 12800 and above. I am excited to explore more about this camera. I have only used it twice and after the first couple shots, I was sold. Nikon Thank you for another great camera, but please stop making them better, your killin me here. My wife say this is my last upgrade and I really do not think I would need anything better.
