Logitech QuickCam Messenger Web Cam

After my 2 month long fiasco with previous cheap "foot-shaped" webcam i wanted something solid (why not - with a well known brand name). Sure i knew logitech and went for it. And my expectations were fulfilled. easy installation (though there are two options on the official web site of logitech - the drivers and another software for some online options which you won't need).

Pro :
1. Nice color and light of the image on daylight and and normal illumination.
2. Universal foot for instalation. It can be put on flat surface, mounted on a LCD and notebook screens, put on CRT monitor (a bit not stable on the latter case)
3. Lots of settings and adjustment options - though not neeed usually - the camera adjusts these automatically.

Cons.
1. Somewhat bulky installation on CRT - the camera keeps falling from monitor.
2. On low light coloring gets green (maybe it is adjustable - i couldn't find in settings)
3. too narrow view-angle - i would prefer it took wider (when needed to record more people simultaneously video-chatting) with an option to crop when i chat alone.

Overall - nice purchase. I have already recommended it to two of my friends who ordered it. And when choosing a webcam I would stay with this brand in future - no more unbranded webcams!

I bought the Logitech QuickCam as a computer component so quadriplegics with vocal issues can have full use of a computer and internet.

The camera is used in a program that puts a dot on their face, and that dot then translates facial/head movements into cursor movements on the computer. Essentially, the camera becomes their cursor to the computer and thus the world.

This camera was perfect for three reasons; the price was very good, the camera works very well, and it clamps on the top of a flat screen CRT for a good stable camera shot of the face. Plus, it's delivered to the house and I don't have to go running all over town to find what I need.

The camera came with sound and a host of other interesting programs to use. All of that tested out very well with no problems.

Since I also install a MagicJack for Quadriplegics to have phone service, and that requires a headset to be worn just for the ease of use (Quadriplegics cannot hold a phone), I was concerned there would be a driver conflict between the headset microphone/MagicJack and camera microphone. There was none at all. Normally, the camera microphone is turned off and the headset microphone is used so they can easily talk on the phone, and the camera microphone is easily turned back on if they want to use it to voice camera over the internet. No microphone is necessary for facial/head control of the computer cursor.

Testing is also being done with voice control of the computer and the camera. As each unique Disability situation presents itself, more uses are discovered for the Logitec camera.

I have to rate this product excellent, all the intended uses have been perfectly met, and I have absolutely no complaints. I would also add that the camera works so well it captured physical head/facial/eye tremors that had gone undiagnosed because they could not be seen, but with the camera the tremors sent the computer cursor flying. With this condition, it's necessary to use a grid on the screen to control the cursor movements and it also improves the physical tremors. This is definately an issue that is physical and not a malfunction of the camera.

It must be said that this camera is a marvelous assistive tool for the disabled and it has certainly taught me more about the physical conditions of Quadriplegics and what needs to be done to help them.

I love that it looks perfect wether I have the lights on or off. I don't really like the mic it has it doesn't work most of the time. Nevertheless it's a great cam and I would definitely buy it again. And I bought it because my bf left the country and he wanted to be able to see me from time to time until he could come back home.

Was basically plug and play with Linux.
Camera and mic both work great. Worked with Cheese
right away. Nice to just plug in 1 USB and have camera and mic.
Microphone works pretty good even 5-10 feet away.
