I bought this product over the Amazon Kindle because it includes an SD card slot for expandable storage and is overall less restrictive on how you control your eBooks.
Adding eBooks to your iRiver Story HD is much like adding files to a USB flash drive. I found it easiest to sort my eBooks into different folders by type. The iRiver allowed me to navigate these folders, or to simply display all eBooks in a big list.
The battery life could have been better, but it wasn't bad. I don't recall exactly, but I may have gotten 600-1200 page turns before needing to recharge. The battery charged relatively quickly, though. All-in-all, while I think the battery is the weakest part of the device, that really just goes to show how little is wrong with the thing.
Being able to read PDFs was a big reason I was interested in the iRiver Story HD. Some PDFs looked best with "reflow" on, and some looked better just zoomed in a little bit. Diagrams looked great and were easy to
The best e-reader if you don't need touch screen.
Its very fast, handles PDFs magnificently, lets you buy books from google books, which seems to be cheaper then B&N.
Screen resolution is amazing, for me it is retina display, I cannot see the pixels.
Great reader, but still lacking annotation and the bookshop does not work in all countries. Great screen resolution, Google Books integration, but the web browser is hidden, lacks an address bar, and one cannot annotate books — at least, not yet.
If iRiver sends an over the air upgrade with book annotation and a web brower address bar, it will be almost perfect. It would be nice to support Mobi and AZW file formats too, and ODT.
Add hackability to that, and it will be perfect.
It was great e-ink reader.
E-ink is better then LCD to read books, especially best in sunlight.
Iriver Story HD's 1024*768 resolution is the best solution for e-ink.
Actually, iriver company's software skill is not good, I think. But they are still updating.
No, more words..
High recommend...I think.
