Revisited Godzilla Much Better 2nd Time Around

Review For: Godzilla Vs. Biollante (VHS, 1992)

Toho's Godzilla franchise has gone from excellent to absurd. And even the worst of the series is entertaining. Godzilla vs. Biolante at first glance would seem to be one of the absurd entries. But don't be fooled by a monster that looks like a giant rose (at first). This movie has all the usual trapings of a Japanese Giant Monster Movie. The millitary is powerless to stop the monsters rampage, the government sits around watching all the action on a big television screen and scientist's and ordanary citizens come to the rescue. The Godzilla suit looks very cool and once Biolante morphs into it,s final incarnation it looks excellent.
If you have not seen this one yet, you may want to do so soon. This vhs video is out of print and is not yet available on dvd. I hope TOHO releases this on a 2 disc special edition with behind the scenes extras, because there is a lot of monster battles and Tokyo destruction. Godzilla fans will want to add this to the collection. I enjoyed this a lot more on the second viewing. 8 out of 10 stars.

Godzilla is back!!!

Review For: Godzilla Vs. Biollante (VHS, 1992)

I am an old Godzilla fan. I have been cheering him on for many years. I had never thought there was a Godzilla movie that I hadn't seen yet. Well there was and this was it.

I really liked this movie for several reasons. The Godzilla suit looked much more realistic, there were plenty of action with Godzilla battling Biollante and the whole Japanese Military. The action seemed to make up about 2/3 of the movie. The long drawn out sleepy scenes were mostly missing from this movie.

The story line was very interesting, but some of it was really far out. Like a monster made of of plant and Godzilla's genes that was inhabited by a sweet young woman's spirit. I could not really see where this part of the storyline had any real bearing on the evolution of the story.

Another part of the movie that was just too far fetched was Godzilla walking out of an erupting volcanoe, where he had been dormant for quite a while.

The acting was better than normal. The man in the Godzilla suit was very good. His movements were not clanky or off balance. His walking and fighting certainly looked more realistic. As usual the women in the movie were all young and very cute.

All in all I really enjoyed this movie. The action was good enough to keep me interested. I think that this movie is a must see for the Godzilla fan or anyone else interested in a good old fashion monster movie. See it, you won't be dissapointed. Written by TNeal

Nice print and packaging , good extras , Lame Mono english dub

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

I Just got this and I'm pretty pleased with the whole package . 1st of all nice box and disc art . The print of the film is not perfect but its very nice compared to what we have had to put up with .my one gripe would be that the English dub is only in Mono . If you flick between the 5.1 surround Japanese soundtrack and back to the mono track then the difference is startling . The 50 min behind the scenes/ making of is interesting for fans even though none of the people involved with the film look very enthusiastic about the whole thing . So decent move Nice print and iffy sound . Very good for the price if you can still find it under $10.00 for DVD and $15.00 for Blu ray . If its over that price I would say you have to be a big fan to lay out more cash for this.
