‘Fancy Nancy’ tells the story of a little girl named Nancy, with a preference for everything more frilly and “fancy”. From clothing and accessories to food and dessert, Nancy tries to reform and instruct her plain and simple family to become more “fancy”. It is an adorable story, and the detailed pen and ink and watercolor illustrations add a lot whimsical sweetness. The illustrations of Nancy, her room decorations, her hair accessories, and clothing fashions are a classic, and all the details of ribbons, feathers and decorated hats and shoes are well presented. The simple and plain message of family love, and how Nancy’s family loves her no matter what is a perfect underlying message, and helps give depth and quality to the overall story.
Reading level is ages 4-8 (32 pages)
This is the perfect book for little girls (and anyone who remembers and loves being a little girl). Nancy is a whimsical, unique and adorable little girl who loves being fancy but dislikes that her family is plain. She comes up with a fun way for everyone in her family to be fancy just like her. The illustrations in this book are so colorful and creative. My daughter (age 3) loves all her Fancy Nancy books and I love reading them to her. I highly recommend this book and the entire Fancy Nancy series.

My 3 year old little boy pulled that book off the shelf at our local library. I threw it in our pile and we checked out. When we came home and read the book, I immediately fell in love with it. I have always been a little on the fancy side and that book was written for girls like me (keep in mind I am 34 years old). I had to purchase a copy for my 9 month old baby girl. Because one day she may be fancy too! As for my son he thought it was funny, but he could take it or leave it. I totally say it is a girly girl book!! Enjoy!
PS I even had a "Fancy Nancy" party for some of my closest friends and we read the book together. What fun a children's book can be for us adults!!
All of the fancy nancy books are incredible. The illustrations are remarkable. All little girls should grow up with fancy nancy. I will definately be adding to our already massive fancy nancy collection. My daughter will love this book in her easter basket.
