This is a movie that kind of grows on you. The first time you see it, you may be a little shocked at the seeming weird atmosphere pervading the film, yet a few months later, you're back watching it again. I've probably watched this movie 6 times by now, and I'm part way through again.
On a side note, this movie is about ten times better if you are or have ever been addicted to computer or video games. There's a theme in the movie that touches on that... Only those who watch the movie will know what I mean - but I love this movie because of it.
Make it eXistenZ. This is a fantastic movie. Great acting, intriguing plot, and well directed and edited. You'll want to watch this movie several times and each time you'll enjoy it as much as the first.
When i first saw this, I thought "Hmmmmmmm, he's tried to revisit videodrome and failed. But looking at Existenze afresh has led me to think that actually it is really worth seeing in itself. There are a couple of moments when it almost approaches the creativity and intensity of videodrome, and has to be worth it for that!
I bought it because of the acting of Oscar Hsu, who plays a Chinese waiter about half way through the movie....he gets half of his face blown off...LUVED IT !!! The movie itsself is kinda slow for the first bit, but it picks up!!! I recommend it. :o)
I saw this movie a year or so ago and loved it for its unique and refreshing approach to the perception of reality. I bought it so that I could share it with some family members and they all walked away saying, "Wow...".
I highly recommend this awesome, quirky movie to anyone who is ready for something out of the norm.
