An excellent way to be your own "Band In A Box"
Created: 11/06/10
The Digitech JamMan Stereo Looper is an outstanding little gizmo that records, overdubs and saves musical episodes--be they 10 second riffs or long choruses. It allows one to record an accompaniment to a song so that other than doing a chord solo, one can play either the melody or the comp and the JamMan will take care of what's deficient. With an extra SD card, this can provide hours of musical content.
I use it as a comping device for my soloing and improvisation...

Digitech JamMan Looper Guitar Effect Pedal
Created: 11/03/10
Don't be fooled by the size of this little pedal. It's packed with lots features.
It's a little pricey & a little confusing at first to figure out how to operate it.
But once you get over the sticker shock & start to get a feel for it, thats when the fun begins.
I bought mine so I could lay down tracks & have someone that likes to jam the same kind of music that I do "Me". You can put up to 8 GB of memory in it & get up to 16 hours of playtime.
I've been using mine with a drum machine then a bass guitar. Then a six string guitar.
singing ... keyboards ... the options are endless. then you can save your own music on the SD
card & when it's full, Put in a new card and start over. I looked a several others loop / samplers
& this one is by far one of the better ones out there for the price.

The Looper Pedal that Delivers
Created: 09/09/10
If you are a musician that wants to experiment with the possibilities of playing with another musician but can't find someone to play with, this pedal is for you, but that's not where the possibilities of the Digitech Jamman pedal end. An accomplished artist can use the Looper pedal to create sophisticated compositions with sections in which there is an accompaniment part that couldn't have been possible otherwise, and now there is the freedom to play with the power of two - or more - musicians while maintaining the freedom of a soloist. The pedal is intuitively easy to use, and from the moment you start, you can have results that are not only startlingly good, they encourage you to play better so that your ultimate results are worthy of the quality that the Jamman can provide.
One of the best things that Digitech provides is a headphone out jack, allowing the player the opportunity to play their heart out without bothering their neighbors - or their parents (depending on your situations). There won't be any eviction notices after a late night of songwriting when you use this headphone jack, and you will be amazed at the clean quality of the signal. Don't worry - if you want to play with your other effects pedals just hook them up on the other side of the input chain and you'll hear them too, it's all about having the Jamman last on the chain.
As for playing loops on the fly, the only drawback is that to get the absolute full use of Digitech's brilliance one must also purchase the (not included) foot switch that allows the player to move up or down (DOWN!) through loops. The pedal will store as many as 99 loops (with the included 128mb card, that's 16 minutes of total playing, so it all depends on how long the loops are). Without the foot switch the only way to move through the loops is by using the knob - manually turning it. Presently I am only using one track at a time, playing on the fly, so this hasn't been an issue for me, but I may try the foot switch at some point in the future.
The flexibility of the pedal is amazing in that it has an input jack for an instrument like an electric guitar or bass (I've been using an electric bass with active pickups), but it will also work with any other input that uses that kind of 3/4" jack. There is also an input for a vocal microphone so you have a virtually unlimited amount of things that can be added to any loop - ambient sounds, vocals, cats meowing, or even babies crying - the choices are only limited by your creativity.
All in all the Digitech Jamman Looper pedal is easily one of the best pieces of musical hardware that I've ever purchased. If anyone is having a hard time making up their mind about buying one just ask yourself the following: can you play consistently? If you can, this will be a great thing to work with, if not, it will be a great tool to help improve your playing as it will make you work to improve both your rhythm and technique. It's also a lot of fun to lay down a rhythm track and play the 12-bar blues with yourself ... really, it is - but that is the least of what you can do with this incredible device. It really is a powerful tool for the serious musician - and a great toy to relax with when we want to have some fun and play.
Rugged construction (mine was made in the USA - not sure where current models are constructed) - metal chases, solid state components, all-around kick-ass design. Retails for <$279 US

If you are a beginning musician or a professional musician, then the DigiTech JamMan Looper is a great addition to your music equipment.
For a beginner it will help you with practicing, just put some rhythm licks on it and practice away, you will be gigging before you know it.
As a professional musician and don't have your band with you or you want to play solo, then just loop some of your songs and there you go, you have your backup band in a box, just step on the pedal and start to rock.
I am a working musician and have tried a lot of different equipment and the Digitech JamMan is a great looper, fact is I have 2 of them just in case one breaks down I can swap the memory card and let er rip.
The great thing about this looper is that you can put up to 6 hrs of loops on it. It is real easy to use and really dependable. I usually run the looper through one amp and play through another, I have found that the sound is a lot better that way, at least to me. Everyone has there on thing so you need to experiment to see what you like the best.
My opinion is that if you buy one, and if you are going to do alot of gigs, then save up some coins and buy another one so you have a backup. You never know when you are on the road what will happen. I learned that when I first started out touring 30 yrs ago, better to be safe than sorry. May take a little more room to haul but you will be glad you did.
Also a little note, make sure you only use the proper battery supply that goes with it!
Good luck and get you one of these loopers, you will be glad you did!

I bought the JamMan Solo (not the JamMan or the JamMan Stereo.) I bought the auxiliary pedal switch too. The switch keeps me from having to tap the pedal twice to stop a loop. It also allows me to move to another loop, hands free.
This is my second pedal. I have used the Boss RC-20. I wanted longer internal memory and longer loop capability. That is why I purchased this pedal. I have not owned this looper for enough time to know its limitations. So far, I am satisfied. Each loop has a maximum of 10 minutes I hope that I won't feel limited by this feature, or I will need the RC-3. It will probably be fine, since I can just switch to another loop, if necessary.
I will probably loop a metronome on beats 2 & 4 and save it. Then overdub a comping pattern. Then I will save it and solo over it.
This pedal seems to be as sturdy as the Boss pedal and the sound is equal. I am pleased. There is also a good warranty by Digitech.
