Casio EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z1000 10.1 MP Digital Camera - Black

This Christmas brought much joy to our home. One of my favorite new gifts was a brand new digital camera, (Canon Power-shot SX200 IS which I will write a separate review on) which is replacing my much loved Casio Exlim EX-Z1000 which I have owned for almost two years. Of course this is leading to a rave review of the EX-Z1000 but please note that I am only replacing it for a newer unit with better ISO and Macro Features. The Exlim is still a Rock Star in my book. So loved that I will keep it as a back up.

The Exlim has been with me all over the world, Disneyland, the Philippines and numerous US states. It has preformed brilliantly with hundreds of eBay listings and thousands of family photos. It is not fair to advertise its toughness, as all digital cameras are fragile by there nature, but this thing has had some falls including a free fall on a concrete garage floor. I have never had any issues at all, not even with the battery after all this time. Just a great machine for such a small camera.

Although the EX-Z1000 only has up to ISO 400 settings, lighting can be tricky, especially with close up macro shots at night. No fault of the camera as all digital cameras are thirsty for light. I did invest in various light sources for eBay listings but found it somewhat hard to get good light balance without the flash and of course the flash would kill a close up. Again, cant blame the camera and one would find it hard to find a better unit in the price range.

My bottom line? Thinking about buying one? Go for it. Chances are you will be as happy as I was/am. I see them going for far less than most 10m MP cameras coming out on the market and I have been Super Happy with mine. It is one of those electronic items that just always works...

This camera is very easy to use. It takes great pictures with amesome quality and easily uploads to the computer. The charger is very simple and super efficient. Great product! Well worth the money!

Good for beginners and people that like slim and compact cameras...

This is my second Casio EX-Z1000. It has been a great "pocket camera" for carrying with me for spontaneous photo opportunities. I lost my first camera during a trip and insisted on obtaining an identical Casio. I have taken in excess of 10,000 photos with my camera and have purchased an after-market underwater camera housing for capturing images of all types of sea life.

I know Casio has newer camera models on the market, and I am sure they have the same, easy use characteristics as the EX-1000.

This casio EX-Z1000 is an excellent digital camera. I use it allot for engineering field photos and it has performed great.
