Movie synopsis
On a reconnaissance flight over eastern Europe, disillusioned naval pilot Chris Burnett (Owen Wilson) and his partner, Stackhouse (Gabriel Macht), photograph a scene they were not meant to see. When their plane is shot down and Stackhouse is quickly captured and executed, Burnett must struggle to survive in unfamiliar hostile territory with a cold-blooded assassin and hundreds of enemy troops on his heels. Meanwhile, on an American battleship in the Adriatic Sea, Burnett's commanding officer, Admiral Reigart (Gene Hackman), attempts to negotiate his soldier's return amidst tense political and military maneuvers. Soon Burnett discovers exactly why he's being hunted, making his situation--and Reigert's actions--even more perilous.Benefiting from Wilson's straightforward performance and Hackman's typically engaging presence, BEHIND ENEMY LINES proves itself with a solid story (loosely based on real-life events) and excellent action sequences. Shot in a cold, icy light, John Moore's film features a nail-biting aerial chase, a tense race across a grenade-filled wasteland, and a stunningly explosive final battle. Wilson, typically cast in quirky comedic roles, is an unlikely action hero who turns out to be the movie's secret weapon. By avoiding excessive macho posturing, BEHIND ENEMY LINES is smarter, more exciting, and better looking than most Hollywood military thrillers.

Behind Enemy Lines -One of my all time favorites

Review For: Behind Enemy Lines (DVD, 2005, Sensormatic)

Behind Enemy Lines is an action packed thriller that takes you for a ride along with hero Chris Burnett played by Owen Wilson. Burnett's naval fighter jet is show down and he is in enemy territory. Burnetts co-pilot, Stackhouse, is assassinated as he looks on from a distance after leaving to get help for an injured Stackhouse.
Wilson gives a stellar performance as he is chased by an army who wants him dead because of what he has seen and filmed from his jet. Wilson's character has none of the traits of a fearless "Rambo" type of warrior. He is a man running for his life and wondering why Admiral Reigart, played by Gene Hackman, has not sent a rescue team in to save him when he reaches a safe zone for pick up.
Politics on the ship between Admiral Reigart and a United Nations representative on board leaves Reigart helpless to bring his man home.
As a viewer you are pulled into the action leaving your emotions running high.
The unique style of filming for this movie adds to the tension and pulls you in even further to Behind Enemy Lines which is loosely based on real life actions.
This is the best performance given by Owen Wilson to date. It's too bad he plays mindless "comedy" roles when his true talent shines through in this dramatic roll.

My Favorite Movie of all time!!!

This is my favorite movie! This movie is about a pilot in the air force (Owen Wilson) that goes out of sky limits and gets shot down by the Russian Army. Him and his co-pilot survive the missle hit on the plane by shoting out and landing safely on the ground. After landing, Owen looks around on a hill to see what he could see (a city, a army, ect...) when the army comes around the hill on the other side of him and shoots his partner/co-pilot. Owen thens screams. Now, to run away from the Russians, to tell the Americans that they are coming, he turns into a enemy in Russia and is BEHIND ENEMY LINES.

This movie is worth buying! And amazingly, is based on a true story.

Behind Enemy Lines (2002, DVD)

Excellent movie based on a true story about a pilot whose plane is shot down behind enemy lines and how he survives. Owen Wilson does a great job, as well as Gene Hackman. Saw the movie several times on TV and decided to buy the DVD for my own enjoyment. Highly recommend it.

Behind Enemy Lines

Excellent drama, top-notch graphics, loosely based on true story. Some sequences not believable, making hero out to be a superman; would never happen in real life. I had seen part of this movie on Tv and bought it because I wanted to see the whole picture.
I strongly dislike and disapprove of the use of profanity and gutter language, leaving the impression that the actors are vocabularily challenged and immature, lacking in consideration for others.
Other than that, it's a great movie.

A story within a movie

The is an story being revealed of the tragedy that racial hatred brings.
The tree planting in the beginning turns full circle at the end of the movie.
The action adventure is good.
Admiral is on the horns of a dilemma with the UN policy and the fate of one of his crew.
There is a lot here in this movie and it has good acting, direction, cinematography.
I really recommend it if you have not seen this movie, but be for warned it has a gritty realism to the violence and killing involved of ethnic hatred.
