AlpineAire XL-15 HEPA Air Purifier

These machines get some good and bad reviews but i personally have used them for over 15 years and i strongly believe they work as they describe. The XL-15 is a great unit for removing smoke smell and allergens from the air. My wife has horrible allergies and when we got married and she moved into my house, her allergies simply stopped. The major key to making these machines work properly is taking them apart and cleaning them regularly(at least every 2-3 months by blowing them out and wiping the inside and fan blades down) and when the "ozone" smell starts getting very faint, change the ozone plates(usually every 2-3 years and very cheap here on ebay). As a smoker and with a wife that has allergies, i can use this machine to clean the smoke smell from the house and keep my family comfortable. Although it is a simple built machine, they are very well built to last years and years with proper cleaning and upkeep. The XL-15 DOES NOT work well for an entire house though even as it says it covers 2000 to 3000 sq.ft., I have found that it is much better to have several machines in several rooms running lower "purification" levels than to try to use just one. Because it does produce ozone, i do not put any machines in bedrooms or kids rooms instead i use them in my living room, office, kitchen and such which does clean well enough to reach to and notice in bedrooms but does not over power the air of the smaller, more closed up bedrooms. If used with common sense, they can keep your house clean of allergens and odors and leave it smelling fresh and clean 24 hours a day. I strongly recommend these to anyone looking for cleaner air with a machine that will last and WORK GREAT for many years.

I own an AlpineAire air purifier and liked it enough to buy another. I have not used any other air purifiers so really cannot compare. I just know these work and work well enough to spend the money on them. We have 2 dogs and 3 cats in our house and everyone who enters our house says it smells wonderful.

Bought an alpine xl-15 10 years ago. Thought it was going bad so I replaced it with one I purchased on ebay. Turns out just needed a motor for 25 bucks. I paid 700 for my first one and had no regrets. People would enter my home and could not smell dogs or smoke. I will always have one going. I understand they are very good for algeries, however, I have none, so unable to comment on that.

I didn't get an AlpineAire XL-15, I thought I was, but instead, I got a chinese knock-off sent to me; although i wasn't happy about it, I must say, it seems to be working just as well. Time will tell.

Beware of ozone; make sure ozone wont harm anything in your home; rubber products, health issues, etc.
