The Baracuda does a great job in keeping the pool clean, however there is one part in it that has to be continually replaced and is $40 retail in the pool stores. We ususally replace it twice a year. There is a site on ebay though that we have recently found the part "poolsupplyworld" that we get the same part for $7.99 so we are much happier now.
The Baracuda G4 cleans my pool better than the Hayward Ultra that I had been using for years. The only problem I've experienced with it so far is that it gets caught on objects on the walls, like the skimmer jets, the vacuum hose outlet, and the pool light. However, it does clean the walls and curves, and even some of the steps in my pool, which I appreciate. The Hayward did a lousy job of that, even though it cleaned the bottom of the pool well. A friend of mine who has a pool service told me, "You'll love it at first, then be disappointed in it -- but all cleaners have their problems."
THE BEST POOL CLEANER ON THE MARKET, one moving part which makes it simple and last longer than any higher priced pool cleaner, my question to the company is WHY DID THEY DISCONTINUE BARACUDA G4 AND REPLACE IT WITH G3? G4 is a much better pool cleaner. This is my second G4. I was able to purchase my G4 through ebay something I couldn't find at my local pool store. I highly recommend this product but good luck finding it.
This pool cleaner replaced my old cleaner. Works wonderful with NO problems. Would and will buy another when needed, Hope this one works as well as my old Zodiac Baracuda -- well, about 10 years.. A+++++
Total piece of crap! I bought it because it had fe moving parts. I threw it away after 4 months because it would get stuck on the steps, despite buying and installing the separate guard, and because...read the fine print...it won't operate in water less than 63 degrees. Even in Texas, that makes it nothing more than an expensive pool tool about 8 months a year.
