Movie synopsis
PINEAPPLE EXPRESS co-stars Danny McBride and James Franco reunite for director David Gordon Green's fantasy comedy YOUR HIGHNESS, which sends up such beloved '80s gems as KRULL and THE SWORD AND THE SORCERER. Thadeous (McBride) has always stood in the shadow of his older brother, Fabious (Franco), a fearless knight who never met a Minotaur he couldn't slay or a warlord he couldn't defeat. Meanwhile, as Fabious embarked on incredible adventures and returned home to lavish celebrations, Thadeous puffed on wizard's weed, and spent his nights in the company of loose maidens. But Thadeous' life of luxury comes to an abrupt end when powerful wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux) shows up and abducts Fabious' beautiful fiancée, Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel). Now threatened with being cut off from the family fortune by his father, the king (Charles Dance), Thadeous reluctantly agrees to join Fabious on a treacherous quest to rescue the fair maiden, and defeat Leezar once and for all. Their voyage to rescue Belladonna will be marked by incredible adventure and unprecedented danger, but together with the help of a fearless warrior named Isabel (Natalie Portman) the two brothers will battle mythical beasts and villainous knights. Meanwhile, as Isabel carries out a clandestine agenda that could place them all in greater danger than they ever imagined, Thadeous struggles to summon his inner warrior and help his noble brother prevent Leezar from using his powers to usher in a terrifying new age of darkness.

Editorial reviews

"The cast are evidently enjoying themselves: McBride of course in his element....Green directs with wit and pace..."
Sight and Sound - Philip Kemp (05/01/2011)

"[T]he fun can be infectious....Production designer Mark Tildesley constructs medieval villages, barbaric fighting arenas and deadly mazes that balance the real and the ridiculous quite nicely."
New York Times - Betsy Sharkey (04/08/2011)

3 stars out of 5 -- "Where YOUR HIGHNESS scores is in the casting....Franco is fab as the stupidly brave sibling and Theroux outshines them all behind his ghastly prosthetic teeth."
Total Film - James Mottram (05/01/2011)

One of the worse movies of the year

No, I would not recommend this product.

Danny McBride and James Franco star in this attempt at a comic look at life in Medieval times. Thadeous (McBride) is a prince who has no life, no ambition, and no future. Fabious (Franco) is his brother who has the favor of the entire kingdom. When Fabious returns from a quest with his future bride Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel) the kingdom gets ready for a great wedding where she is kidnaped by the powerful wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux). Thadeous and Fabious are sent off on a quest to rescue her.

The only problem with this movie is the movie. It is NOT funny, the acting is very poor and the story goes from bad to worse as the movie moves along.

Also starring in this movie are: Charles Dance and Natalie Portman.

If you were thinking like the rest of us that this movie would be funny, save your money. Its not.

Review For: Your Highness (DVD, 2011)

The film is a ranchy look at the middle ages. If you can either appreciate the dirty jokes which are part of nearly every sequence, the story itself is actually really cute, classic tale of a spoiled prince realizing he wants more out of life...the only issue that was pretty difficult to overlook was the idea that the actor who played the younger brother looked decades older than the actor who played the older brother.

Review For: Your Highness (DVD, 2011)

OK, I am going to say it and if someone is ticked off at me then so be it. This movie is NOT FUNNY! Period. I purchased this thinking it would be "raunchy, f-word filled and there were be alot of sexual talk" and in that it did NOT disappoint but funny? Not so much. It is not a bad movie but please don't purchase this thinking you will laugh all the way through. As a matter of fact there are a couple of parts when you may actually go "ewwwwww". A half baked attempt at medieval humor gone wrong. JMHO....buy it if you MUST but this DVD is a "rental" and I wish I had done just that.
