Would not purchase one. They do not last long and cannot be repaired except through Yamaha. The problem is, if the device detects a problem, it "locks down", even if the problem is corrected. There is no way to "unlock" the device, it will remain in lock down mode until it is sent to Yamaha for repair. You can verify my statement by looking in the manual under troubleshooting.
I only ran one set of 8 Ohm speakers on this unit, nothing more, and only at half power. One day, the unit would not power up. The speakers and wiring is fine, verified that by swapping unit. repair shop can find nothing wrong, but cannot get it to power back on due to unit being locked by internal computer. I searched online for a solution and it seems their are quite a few people complaining about the same thing. It suddenly stops working and no way to know what caused it or how to get it working again. Pretty good racket Yamaha.....
Have been an Yamaha fan for the last 10 years. Normally I purchase the higher end of the Yamaha line. However, this time I went for their entry model.
I have to say that this receiver is a true bargain. For most this unit will be all that you need to run your home theater. The sound is great. Plenty of HDMI inputs. Great sound field options. If you're looking for Dolby 7.1, look elsewhere. This unit is Dolby 5.1 and DTS.
I've purchased 3 V-371's. Bought one new on ebay for $160! However, even in the $250 range, it's a terrific buy.
Had a question for Yamaha and was able to talk live to tech support on a Sunday. Not bad!
This receiver is great, I did not know that it had so much features. It is more than I expected for a receiver. It have something for ever type of movie and music. it is a good buy for a good price.
This entry level YAMAHA model RX-V371 is absolutely the best bang for your buck you can possibly get. It is very user friendly and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out most functions. I'm 65 yr's old and I had this unit up and running in an hour without even opening the inst. booklet. The only thing I have a question about is, I have a dish network universal remote and it should be able to control all the functions of the YAMAHA, and it does except it will not turn "ON" the unit as it should for some reason, but that's minor compared to ease of operation of the unit, but all in all I'm very happy with my purchase and would buy another without hesitation.
ITS A GOOD product and the price is right.yamaha makes ther
own parts.for the price its the best. The thing I dislike is the TV line in for RCA jacks to get that line working you have to ues the remot .the remot is eez to ues.
