This collection documents all the truth that was out there during the 1997-8 campaign of the beloved science fiction series, THE X-FILES. Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gilian Anderson) track suspicious cases that may be attributed to the supernatural or involve interplanetary activity. Memorable moments from this season include Mulder's appearance on Jerry Springer's talk show and Scully working with her partner to fake Mulder's death. Episodes include "Foiie a Deux," "Chinga," "Kill Switch," "Redux," and "Bad Blood," a favorite episode among fans that deals with vampirism.
Fans of The X-Files know what to expect from their favorite team of Federal Agents, but Season 5 of the vastly popular series was chock full of classic episodes that provided drama, comedy, and just about anything else you could ask for.
In Season 5, we learn how The Lone Gunmen got their start, about a boy with very special abilities, and that Scully is dying. There are classic X-Files mythology stories which further the pursuit of proof of alien existence by Mulder as in Redux and The Red and the Black and there are stand-alone episodes like Bad Blood and Post-Modern Prometheus. Plus, the set also comes with bonus material included.
Quite simply, if you are an X-Files fan, this is one season you can’t afford to skip.
Okay, as for gillian anderson and david duchovney (i miss him in the new series).. i really could not care what they were in.. they would look and do just fine, in my opinion lol. I LOVE the x-files. *looks over at my "I want to believe" poster on my office wall*. The new series featuring Doggit are okay , i like his partner.. but if they are trying to use those two to kinda replace scully and mulder.. it just is not working out at all. The story lines are great. Other than they find mulder, oh he is dead again, no wait they found him.. oh wait, he is working on a new movie - kill him off again lol
While many viewers have dinged the X-Files 5th season for being different than the preceding four seasons, it has to be different if you want to play out the internal mythology and keep growing, instead of just repeating the same themes endlessly. This does make for a certain "transitional" feeling, but the quality of the episodes is just as good as the previous seasons. The issue is really whether the viewer is willing to keep exploring the unknown with Mulder and Sculler, or whether they want to stay in the cozy familiarity of their own "backyard". This season also includes an episode showing how Mulder met the Lone Gunmen, an episode that is so good it almost makes the whole season worth the purchase price, even if you're not partial to vampires (1 episode) or adoption of alien hybrids (1 episode), and find Scullys antagonistic brother a bit annoying. Well worth the price!
Some of the best episodes of the entire series, Folie a Deux, Kill Switch and Bad Blood are in this season. I dislike that the discs don't have a "Play All" feature. One has to scroll to select an episode then select - then select again to play. This is a major pain in the butt.
