Album Notes
Producers include: Steve Levine, Arif Mardin, Lew Hahn, Bruce Forest, Bobby Z.Includes liner notes by Boy George.Photographers: Nick Knight; André Csillag.Boy George may get top billing on this 1993 hits compilation, occasioned by his surprising comeback hit with the theme from the gender-bending mystery THE CRYING GAME, but there's no hiding the fact that the best songs are the ten of 19 here recorded with Culture Club. These singles are excellent commercial pop-soul, and several of them--"Do You Really Want to Hurt Me," the utterly sublime "Time (Clock of the Heart)," and "Church of the Poison Mind" in particular--are about as good as chart pop got in the early '80s. Boy George's solo singles are more uneven, but the high points, like a reggae-tinged cover of Bread's "Everything I Own" and the Pet Shop Boys-produced "The Crying Game," are wonderful. Culture Club's first two albums are excellent, but this may be the only Boy George solo record you need.

Amazing band.

Created: 08/17/10
I use to have this cd and it either got stolen, misplaced or lost and had a heck of a time trying to find another one. If you were a fan of the 80s, then you will know how fantastic this band was at this time. I loved this band even though many people didn't accept or care for their "look", but not me, I was immediately struck by the vocals, their musical abilities which were so different than anything coming out at that time. The costumes were amazing and even though boy george ruined an otherwise great career with drugs, I still to this day find his vocals amazing. I miss the 80s, too much has changed since then and I don't really care for the style of music that came afterwards. I believe when the 80s died, so did the music. I guess it's because so many groups who were popular then and had their own style of music, just weren't able to adjust to what was coming and being produced. It's sad but I'm sure every decade past feels the same way about their music as well.

Boy George was sooooooo cool! He reminded me of one of my best friends when I was in high school... He was gay and we always had the best time shopping & we both loved the same music! :) Boy George & The Culture Club brings back some awesome memories & I treasure that period of my life! :)

Great Songs From A Great Era!

Created: 08/15/08
How I sometimes miss the 80's..there were singers/bands we could watch and emulate without going to prison..there were songs that we could listen to that didn't need an advisory sticker..despite Georges personal problems with drugs he still had one hell of a voice, sadly he let drugs get in the way of his fabulous career..this cd has all the hits well, not all some are missing mainly the "War Song" which I thought was brilliant!..but two of Georges' solo efforts are included and I am tickled..the last two songs on this cd are phenominal..don't miss this great blast from the past!!

Some of the music Super-Stars of Yesterday, you can not purchase in stores anymore, so I look to e-bay,a great place to shop.
Boy George and the Culture Club had some really big Hits. His voice is awesome. This cd has some really great songs. The sound quailty is very good, but I didn't care for some of the songs.
Overall a good deal for the money.
