|Picking up where 2001's Return to Castle Wolfenstein left off, Wolfenstein continues the alternate-history World War II storyline starring the heroic BJ Blazkowicz. The Nazis' depraved and twisted experiments in the occult have succeeded. Using portals to a dark dimension known as the Veil, the Nazis now have the capacity to construct a world-altering weapon. As the grizzled Blazkowicz, you must go behind enemy lines to stop the Nazis' terrifying technology. Battle a ghastly mix of human soldiers and supernatural creatures while using authentic weapons of the era, or wield more fantastical inventions like tesla guns and particle cannons. |
Blazkowicz can also channel four mystical powers once he acquires an amulet from the Veil. These powers will grant you the temporary ability to slow time, enhance your vision, absorb bullets, and more. Discover hidden gold, intelligence, and tomes to trade for weapon upgrades such as silencers or enhancements to your Veil powers. Wolfenstein also includes optional side missions from the multiple cities you'll visit throughout the campaign. In addition to the solo game, Wolfenstein includes class-based online action for up to 16 players. Experience earned during the multiplayer component can be used to purchase various unlockables for use in subsequent matches.

Dude. I've been playing video games since the first wolfenstein came out for the PC. This is not your average shooter. This game is absolutely amazing. I don't know why, I actually feel like I'm in war. I remember saying that about the first game. They have made this game much, much better than 99% of other shooters. In fact, I haven't seen anything like it. The battle with the Nazis feels real and its tough. I can't put my finger on it, but it feels like real war for some reason.
Also, as an added bonus, the story is filled with the Nazi occult. In essence, you play with the dark magic of the occult. It may sound hard to make a good game that blends the dark magic and real WW2 action, but the producers of this game did it. Even the music is amazing. I don't really bother rating the backround music, but this one has heart pumping adrenaline action background music.
All weapons are upgradable, but you won't have enough money to get everything. The game makes you pick and choose which is pretty unique in itself.
All and all, this game is much better than I expected it to be. Each level is unique and never gets boring. The dark magic is kind of cool and upgradable in many way.
The one and only mistake I did find was that not everything gets damaged when you shoot it. That's it. Everything else is perfect.
I highly recommend this game. It will be a classic for sure.
(I just played a few more hours of it and want to add some notes)
This game is like watching a very frightening movie that will keep you on the edge of your set.
The war like atmosphere is very realistic. The way soldiers move, talk, fight, and die are very realistic and unique.
You never know what to expect. Every single level is like a brand new game but better than the previous. The soldiers attack in all angles. You don't run into similar challenges.
The battles are very intense. Each checkpoint is close to each other because by the time you get to the next checkpoint, you should be exhausted from staying alive.
This game is very scary. It's like a horror game with horrific ideas of what future wars might be like.
Best game I've seen in the past 5 years at least.

Hmm, does this franchise have anything left, or is id Software beating a dead horse? The answer is clear: this is one heck of a game! Anyone who buys this should be pleased with the great graphics and wicked cool gameplay features, while the long list of trophies seal the deal. Slow down time: cool, kill lots of dumb Nazis: really cool, upgrade weapons and abilities: sweet! I honestly have not played online (don't have time), but id has a real knack for putting great story modes together, and the replay value returns again...tenfold. You may have different campaigns depending on how you build your stockpile: do I go flammenwerfer, or scoped mp43? Or should I just get a huge Veil bar and mow everyone down with Empower? THIS is just the beginning. The graphics are good, but maybe disorienting for some, while the veteran cast of voice actors (Blaskowitz-Wolverine from X-men legends, and the OSA director-Malak from KOTOR 2 to name a couple examples) put together another id epic from start to finish. Controls could be tighter overall, but do the job for the most part, and again, replay value is improved dramatically (somehow!) from before. Beyond sales, impending price-drops, or commercial and private entities both trying to just unload this gem, it's worth every buck regardless. Leading the resistance in WWII has never been more exhilarating.
I purchased this game based solely on the name and the history of the game! I played Wolfenstein on my Commodore 64 and I played the 3D version on my PC as well. I assumed that the gameplay and the graphics would be completely different on the PS3 version, and I was right! It is better! The story is very good, but it is essentially just a WWII shooter. There are nice cinematic scenes throughout the game, which you can skip over if you choose to. There are also the traditional bosses that you need to defeat every so often - some are more difficult than others.
One thing that I REALLY liked about this game: the weapons! It was not so much that the weapons themselves were fantastic (although they are pretty good), but more so the fact that your weapons stay the same. Let me explain. You find different weapons as you progress through the game. There are a total of 8 and that is it! You can buy many different upgrades for each weapon from the black market locations you come across. Since you keep the same weapons all the time it is worth it to do this, as it will help you get through the game! In many other games you come across weapons and use them until you are out of ammo and then find something else and then use it for a while. With that type of game you never really know what you are going to be shooting. With Wolfenstein, you know YOUR weapons and what each one does. When ammo runs out, you do not lose that weapon, you just can't really use it until you find more ammo for it - which you will at some point, guaranteed! Also, once you come across and get all of your weapons you are given a PS3 trophy for it.
Overall, I would say that Wolfenstein is a fun game. When it first came out at $59.99 I thought it was a bit pricey, so I waited. I ended up paying about $25.00 for it, which I think is just about right!
Wolfenstein is based off one of the first ever 3d shooters next to Catacombs. Even today it is a good game. This next gen version is equally good if not better. It is about the occult with the german Nazis during WWII. There are many powers you can gain from a trinkit and WWII guns to fire. The story is very intriguing from the action pack intro to the cliffhaning end on a balloon. This game is very good. It is a must have for your collection.
I am a Wolfenstein fan so this was a must have for me. I have the original for the PC. I also have the origanal downloaded into my Playstation 3. This game is really fun. It's a classic with a new twist. Good graphics. Excelent weapon choices and upgrades. Lots of secrets to find and a lot of Nazi's to kil with a good story to go with it. The only thing I'm not that fond of is when you want to travel to another city which is done often, you end up having to wait for the next city to download every time. It does'nt take long (about 10 seconds) give or take, but still is a little anoying when your really into the game. Other than that this is a great game. It's not to gory or graphic when it comes to killing so to be honest with you I would let a child play it. CLASSIC FUN!!!!!!!!!
