Not happy at all with this air conditioner. It is a 12000 BTU and quite honestly it barely cools my 197 sq. foot bedroom. It said in the specs that it could cool up to 400 square feet. Well, I have a 10,000 BTU that works better then this one! Plus the vents are not adjustable up or down, only sideways, so we had to put it up on a table to get optimal use of it. Also it only comes with a 36" window panel for installation my much cheaper 10,000 BTU, cool better with 2000 less BTU( not a Whyntner)came with a 48" window installation kit. This air conditioner is not worth the money. It is not a good value, for the same price you can buy a much better air conditioner.
After spending time acquiring and preparing a 6 1/2" wide x 80" high x 3/8" thick piece of wood to use in my sliding glass door through which the 5" vent hose can connect, the unit has worked very well. I have not hooked up a line for continuous drainage, but amazingly, the internal chamber inside the unit has not filled up with water to the point of automatically shutting down the unit. I have the unit sitting on the floor only 18" from the sliding glass door with the minimum length of the vent hose and with the hose level. If and when I hook up a continuous drain line, the line will also be level. It seems that in order to keep both the 5" exhaust hose and the drain line level, a sliding glass door setup would be superior to most window setups. The only somewhat negative of the unit is the substantial decibel level of the unit while running. But it's worth the price to receive the cooling that this unit provides. It kicks out nice cold air and can run for hours at a time with no decrease in its cooling ability. I received the unit at a very good price and would definitely consider buying another one if needed.
