The Tubes are an amazing live band, and in the '70s, they didn't hold anything back. This album, originally a double LP, was typical of the times when many bands and artists were producing double-live albums as often as greatest hits collections. While these were crazy shows done live, with a lot of visual appeal, the music stands on its own.
Released in 1978, this album predates their '80s hits like 'She's A Beauty' and 'Talk To Ya Later.' But music fans knows that, while the later stuff is excellent, a lot of their truly great stuff is right here, from the farcical 'What Do You Want From Life?' to the erotic but tasteful 'Don't Touch Me There,' and the stoners' anthem 'White Punks On Dope' (with faux-British punker Quay Lude primed and ready to go) is Tubes mayhem in full force. And the Tubes put their signature sound on a rousing version of the Beatles' 'I Saw Her Standing There.'
I rated this CD as Good because it truly captures the fun as well as the musicianship that The Tubes are known for. This set is a rockin' good time, and a nice reminder that the '70s really were a great time of musical exploration. This set is worth having in your collection.
the shear vocal perfomance of fee on this live cd is gr8,the tight performance of the band for a live recording is superb,a must have for tube fans, and a must play loud cd! 10 out of 10.
