) I needed to backup documents on an aging desk pc. I wanted something I can carry with me. This device is quiet and fast. What I liked most about this is its size. It was small enough I could put in my shirt pocket! It is not the latest, its only 500GB, but it is more than enough for non-video/music users with years of documents and family photos (ie my hard drive is only 100GB). Last, because it wasn't the biggest drive or the latest model, it was at a lower price point compared to most others. That was ok with me as it perfectly met my needs.
