Reliable portable drive!

What's good: The USB 3.0-based Western Digital My Passport Portable offers a large capacity and fast performance in a compact, good-looking, and sturdy external hard drive. It's relatively affordable and easy to use.

What's bad: The software doesn't allow you to back up on a schedule.

The bottom line: It's an great portable drive for any use.

Good value for a proven product, very portable, just one wire!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

We found one of these for a client on eBay for just under $100. Why? It's solid technology with a good warranty for (unbelievably) under ten cents ($0.10) per Megabyte which has us re-thinking backup, CD's, DVD's and more for any storage needs, including especially 'portable' ones!

The unit arrived pre-formatted for NTFS so you can almost immediately begin to fill it up. It also comes with a useful collection of software, but we've found that the drive is recognized like any other and we've been able to see and use it with in-place backup software including Symantec (Veritas) Backup Exec. and even a Freebee we like called Cobian Backup.

We like the single wire to connect and go that's perfect for our portable storage need, but we see the give-up in performance compared to its big brother, "My Book" unit that has it's own separate power supply.

We have no less than fifteen Western Digital's 'My Book' 1 TB and 2 TB drives in production use with various clients and we're pleased enough with the product to make selecting this one an easy decision. (See our "WD My Book" review titled "Great Value that goes to work immediately!").

An excellent way to save your data at a very convenient price

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

I bought this product in order to storage all my information that was dispersed in many places.

I like this product because I know it is good. The brand guarantee me that my information will be safe.

What I dislike is that the product is very delicate so I have to be very careful in its transportation. Well I get used to it.

I surely would buy again a similar product with more capacity of storage of the same brand and type.
