| Western Digital Caviar Blue hard drives are ideal for business, personal, and family computing use, with this internal 80 GB hard drive also tested and recommended by the manufacturer for deployment in consumer-level RAID applications. With a low profile, 3.5-inch form factor, quiet operation (rated at 30 dB when in seek mode) and industry standard PATA interface, this Western Digital hard drive is suitable for installation in both Mac and PC desktop systems. Western Digital Caviar Blue drives are designed to offer long media life for reliable data storage; the drive’s recording head never comes into contact with the disk, which results in prolonged life for the head while avoiding wear to the storage media. Additionally, a Western Digital Caviar Blue drive is equipped with technology to optimize seek speeds, which allows the hard drive to deliver the expected performance with less noise, reduced vibration, and lower power consumption. This internal 80 GB hard drive is responsive, with its 7,200 RPM spindle motor and 8 MB cache giving the Western Digital hard drive the capability of delivering a maximum 100 MBps data transfer rate. | |

my hard drive went bad on my old computer,so I just purchased this hard drive so that the grand kids have a game PC.
I needed a good quality drive for testing. I didn't care that I only had 80 Gigabytes. I checked the drive with SMART and then used it for a new operating system. Everything worked fine.
I have used these HDD for a long time, One of the best.
These drives run fairly cool and I have a few that are some years old.
Thank You
If you use external hard drives like I do, then the 80-120GB internal hard drive is the way to go. 40-60GB's might be a little too small, and anything bigger than 120GB might be just too big. I decided to go on the small end of perfection with this 80GB HDD. BTW my external HDD is 1TB and it just does it for me too.
The Western Digital Caviar hard drive is a good quality hard drive indeed. So far as of a few weeks it works well and is the third Western Digital Drive I have owned. The first two I had lasted seven years and no hiccups. Western Digital makes one of the best hard drives around in terms of durability. Great for a smaller main drive or a backup drive. This is a good, solid investment, indeed.
