had always wanted to watch WEEDS,BUT NEVER HAD SHOWTIME. A friend recomed that i watch it, so i took their word for it. So i saw that these items were available on bluray for an affordable price, and i jumped at the opportunity to own them. Now in the 3rd season, I am very pleased with my purchase.
The show is categorized as a dramedy, and it delivers exactly that. The drama is intense, and the comedy is very witty and sarcastically funny. The show is centered around a pot dealing Widow, and her family. It goes through her triumphs, as well as her trials and tribulations.
Mary louise Parker, delivers in each episode as she did For "angels in america" the HBO mini-series in which she won an emmy.
I highly(no pun inteded) recommend this show.
Whereas season 1 of "Weeds" offered a good deal of exposition — establishing Nancy Botwin (Mary Louise Parker), her "job" and her problems — season 2 took the show to new heights, including a jaw-dropping cliffhanger that have left fans rabid for more. The season's last few episodes, especially, are fantastic as Nancy's life and family spin wildly out of control. Indeed, Nancy Botwin may be the world's first pot-dealing tragic hero.
Perhaps the show's only downfall are the dopey covers of "Little Boxes" that mark the beginning of each episode. The original song, written by Malvina Reynolds in 1962, is an fantastic opener; the covers that were commissioned by popular bands somehow detract from the tune's overall charm.

After watching the first season of Weeds, I was hooked and couldn't wait to get the second season. I wasn't disappointed. Like the first season, season 2 of Weeds, starring Mary-Louise Parker, delivers an extensive series of twists and turns that leaves one glued to the set until there are no more episodes to watch. The characters are memorable and the dialogue hysterical and quick. The series is so addictive, I've now ordered and am waiting for the third season. After that, I may just have to order Showtime! Weeds is an addictive and legal high!
This Showtime series is a real original. You can actually say after watching it: "I've never seen anything like this before on television". It is very well done. Mary Louise Parker does an excellent job as the main character in this series as do all the cast members. It's the single best series out on DVD.. Is it worth watching? Most definitely!! I would highly recommend buying it for your collection (no pun intended:)
I quickly got addicted to this show. Mary Louise Parker is a great actress and Kevin Nealon is hilarious. It's easily relatable for anyone who has kids and teenagers, and psychotic family members and neighbors. I don't always sympathize with the main character, which is usually key for the success of shows like this, but the plot is interesting, and more easily understandable for smokers.
