I loved this silly movie about a family who does the oddest thing to fix life issues.
Great story, lots of funny stuff, the organic kind, and great acting. This one is going in regular rotation at my house.
Never a dull moment, lots of tears and cheers. Just an all around great film. And not dumbed down for the kiddies either, who will love it. Sweet little romance and lots, and lots of witty animals.
See it, be sure to have a tissue handy... this movie was so much fun, I want a Zoo too.
Feel good movie about a recently widowed man and his children who are trying to move on with their lives after the untimely death of his wife and childrens' mother.
Benjamin Mee (Matt Damon), having always been somewhat of a immature adventurer, is now faced with "growing up" and making a life for his family. Seeking a fresh start, he buys a house with a zoo behind it! He has no idea of the costs, or even the related problems inherent in such a business, but with the help of an assortment of former zoo employees, proceeds to learn a lesson in, not only zoo ownership, but is life itself. This is a pretty good movie.
I bought this because, my wife and daughter saw it together, and I wanted to see with my teenaged son was away that weekend.
This is the perfect family film, it has animals, a first kiss, a teenager in search of itself, a sassy small child and above all its based on a true story. The only thing this didn't have was the original ending that was released in the theaters.
Spoiler Alert: In the theatrical version, in the end you see a photograph the true individuals this movie is based on. Sit back and watch it with the entire family.
I love feel good family movies, especially those that are based on true stories. It's funny, true to life and well acted. The story never wavers. I just wish that I could afford to travel to see the real Wildlife Park that it is based on. If I had the money and could buy a zoo, I would do it in a heartbeat! Kids will love this, and adults will too, though they may not admit it! LOL! This is one of the best movies I've seen this year!
A moving story about a families journey to get past the death of their wife/mother. Making a rash decision, the father, Matt Damon, buys a broken down zoo. Through their personal trials and tribulations as well as pouring their blood, sweat and tears into rebuilding the broken down zoo the family works through their differences and begins the road to healing.
