Okay, based on the heavy rock time in the early 90's, this movie may well be one of the best comedys out there. If you've seen Austin Powers, this is Mike Meyers while he was younger: more energy, more laughs!
Mike Meyers plays Wayne Campbell, an awesome TV show host of his own show, Wayne's World. His partner played by Dana Carvey, host this TV show in Wanye's parent's basement, based on random things, and local events. His show brought him a lot of popularity from his hometown of Aurora, Illinois. He attends all the local concerts and talks about them on his show.
At one of the local shows, he sees a lead singer/bassist named Cassandra, which he follows after seeing her. They end hanging out a lot, and dealing with the same business man. He offers Wayne and Garth a lot of money to buy Wayne's World and offers Cassandra a record deal. He turns out to be a fraud by trying to steal Wayne's World...the rest...you must see for yourself...and you WILL like it. Excellent!!
I loved this movie. I was a huge fan of the skit when it was on Saturday Night Live, so I suppose it stands to reason that I would appreciate it when it hit the big screen. This movie is about two young men who are finding their way in a society that turns its nose up to them and those like them. They are fun loving, hippie type characters that really mean no harm to anyone. They have a wonderful love and appreciation for music... Rock music. :)
There is a wonder homage in this movie to Queen. The car scene in which they are singing to Bohemian Rhapsody is wonderful.
This is a great feel good movie.
I bought this for my 12 year old son after nostalgically hearing Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" one day.
The first time I heard it (again) was when he plugged it into the car dvd player during a long ride. Although the language was a little saltier than I remember by today's standards it's mild-and I did find myself "head bobbing" in the front seat when "Bohemian Rhapsody" came on.
Definitely worth the purchase- not only for nostalgia's sake but to relive it through it's intended audience-an adolescent boy~
This is a great movie that I would recommend to anyone who wants to laugh. This movie is particularly great if you are a fan of the 80s, rock music, or 80s/90s Saturday Night Live. I happen to be a fan of all 3 things which is why I bought it so I have it for good now!
I like it because it is a funny classic comedy. That don't make movies like this anymore. I bought it for the same reason. I think it should be a part of everyones movie collection.
