saw the video of "Conrack" w/ John voight wanted to read the book that the
movie was made from, like Pat Conroy writing style very much.
I Loved the book and movie. It was one of the book I had not read. Pat Conroy was my son's favorite authors. He was killed in auto 11 years ago. He turned me on to Pat Conroy now he is one of my favorites. Brandon used to get "Prince of Tides" and " Breach Music" on sell and give as gifts. I found about 5 "Prince" of Tides" when I cleaned out his apartment. Sorry to keep going on but he loved Pat Conroy and his books. Thanks, Patty Brown
This a great old novel about the challenges faced by a teacher who accepted a job teaching kids from a background vastly different from his own. While the job initially appears impossible to accomplish, with patience, persistence, and creativity, he is able to make a positive difference. I found this book to be an inspiring read, and I think it has excellent insights to offer for teachers or people in situations where a cultural divide exists.
Pat convoy is my favorite author, and since I was a teacher for my entire working life, I loved this book! He was a hero in my eyes for taking on such a huge job, teaching these children! What a difference he made in the lives of so many! This is a must read!
I bought this book to read because we go to Myrtle Beach in the summer, since it takes place in South Carolina,I thought it would be interesting to read,it was a very good book, hard to put down, a good book for a teacher to read
