I bought this unit to clean the yellow algae that the ducks introduced into my pool and although it does it, it is rather slow. The pro unit with its increased suction would probably be better but that unit is significatly more expensive. The unit is well made. The power supply for an 8.4 v motor uses a charger that puts our 15.8 v no load, but the factory says this is OK and with load the voltage drps to that required. Minimal use so far, will report more if I find out more about the cleaner. Incidentally, you have to use the fine filter bag(sold separately) for the algae.
It is nice that you don't have to hook up hoses, etc. and it is portable. Wish the filter bag was larger. Not ideal for pool opening but will do the job, however, is great for spot cleaning since it is portable. Battery does indeed last much longer than I would have thought originally. Once your pool is open this is an ideal cleaning tool.
This vacuum is excellent in picking up the algae in the pool. Not much good for heavier dirt. It just rolls over the grime and you have to sweet it up for the unit to get it. I even took the wheels off, it still just went over the dirt. I was a little disappointed in the overall power of the unit. The charge time is good. This is great for spot cleaning or picking up the algae after you have cleaned with the pool vac. This is the first thing I have found that will get all the algae and silt from the bottom of the pool.
I think it is a bit pricey for the acutal power you get. It is convenient and easy to use.
Purchased this to clean a relatively small pool (Endless Pool) because the suction of the water quality system (standard pool pump) was not so great. The price was right for the Water Tech and a better deal than the smaller unit that Endless offers on their website.
It seems to do a great job of cleaning up debris. Don't have the sand or silt that some reviewers of this product mention but can see where a different filter would be appropriate for that. A full charge gives about two very thorough cleanings of the 7 x 14 pool. Not sure how well the device will last over the years (mostly concerned about battery life) but it seems to be a decent tool for the job.
I bought it to clean a small paddle pool alongside my main pool, (in which I use a robotic cleaner). It is effective, but has small capacity. To clean the silt you must have the finer filter bag. It needs to be emptied often to keep effective as it fills quickly and then clogs. It needs an alternate way or a curved/shaped handle to hold it for shallow pools or bending down does your back in. I made one up from PVC retic pipe, with a 45 degree elbow - not great but OK. It is lightweight, but effective. Bit ridiculous to suggest that it could clean a normal size pool, you would be there for a year. In my circumstance, I would buy it again as I cant see anything better available.
